Publisher's summary

Althea and Maeve never asked for eternal life.

Born in the early 16th century, their survival depended on hiding their special abilities from the superstitious village people they lived among. Controlling the elements and healing animals would get a person executed for witchery.

As they grew older Maeve got tired of hiding and that’s when disaster followed. Soon the twin-sisters would come to wish that their abilities included going back in time to change tragic events.

In this Epic Fantasy, Pearl Beacon and best-selling author Elin Peer introduce you to a dark and epic trilogy that spreads out over centuries. Get ready to fall in love with the lush and magical Orenda and to be intrigued by the secret world of people with magical powers which includes some very handsome and mysterious shape shifters. Expect a slow burn romance that will make you reflect on the world as you know it.

Come along on this great adventure.

Could not finish

I love Elin's men of the North series so thought i would like this one. However, im not sure if this was meant to be a "storytime" book or not, but it felt like that. The narrator did fine, it merely felt like i was being told a bedtime story (the once upon a time type) rather than being engaged with the characters. Sorry.

Character development✔️

This book is essentially an introduction to this universe and the characters. I was waiting for something to happen but nothing ever did. The backround story is known. The bad guys have no conscience, scary as f** . The good guys or more like important race for keeping balance is too gentle to defend themselves. But they do have an powerful immortal leading these people to safety . But this immortal is not very smart in keeping this place a secret . The reader is new to me, she has so many voices each one fantastic. Even though nothing really starts happening over 50 year span I think it’s time for the story to open up and has potential to be fantastic.
So the second book isn’t out. But when it comes to audible I will definitely get it.

So darn good! Could not put it down

I loved everything about this book. I was attached to both characters and loved Mauve’s story.
