About this listen

Being a teen of the '90s is tough. For a teenage outcast like Joan Goyer, "tough" is nowhere near the plane of descriptions of her life as a werewolf.

Fresh out of high school and set for college, Joan's summer becomes a nightmare of a vacation when a murder takes place in her backyard. Targeted as a suspect, Joan must partner up with her creepy yet attractive neighbor, who is also a suspect. Proving her innocence would be the challenge, but to trust someone who is blurred between friend or foe...this is a suicide mission.

A thrilling tale

"Cursed at Birth" is a wild ride! I devoured this story of a teenage werewolf struggling with shifting, suspicion, and a whole lot of teenage angst. The mystery surrounding the body parts kept me guessing, and the slow-burn romance between the heroine and her mysterious neighbor was both frustrating and addicting. A 5 star read!!

Loved it!

As a former teen outcast (haha also in the 90s), I ate this book up! Joan's struggle to prove her innocence despite being a werewolf badass felt so real. Intense, gnarly, but with just the right touch of will-they-won't-they tension. A wild ride!

For lovers of an unpredictable plot.

In many books I read, I have entirely figured out the plot and sometimes the ending by chapter three. This is not one of them. As a 90s kid, much of the nostalgia was familiar to me, and that made the book super relatable. The gem of the story, however, is that it keeps you guessing the whole way through.

Quite Good

The writing style is crisp and engaging, with a perfect balance of description and dialogue. The pacing is brisk, ensuring that there is never a dull moment. Most of the supporting characters are well written. From Joan's quirky friends to the enigmatic figures she encounters during her investigation, the cast is diverse and engaging. Their interactions with Joan help to flesh out her character and provide moments of humor and heart amidst the tension.

It was nothing short of a page-turner.

Navigating this maze wasn't just about solving the crime; it was a deep dive into what it means to trust, especially when your instincts are clouded by the moon. Every chapter peeled back layers of their personalities and the dark underbelly of their town. For anyone who loves a good supernatural thriller mixed with the angst and pulse of teenage drama, "Moonlit Shadows" is a must-read. Trust me, it's a howling good time with a mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end.

Twisting and turning drama

A real twisting and turning drama that will draw you in. The more you listen the more you get pulled into the world, with splashes of 90’s nostalgia sprinkled throughout. A great listen for some good old-fashioned escapism. Definitely would recommend.
