Publisher's summary

The dead don't always stay dead in Claysville...and in the afterlife, Death himself can't be trusted.

Amity Blue has begun to remember strange impossible events, her ex trying to bite her and people vanishing like mist. Everyone in town swears a mountain lion is responsible for the recent deaths, but Amity is sure that there's more to the story.

After a stalker - a dead stalker - appears at the bar where she works, Amity discovers that the dead don't always stay dead in Claysville. Along with the current Graveminder, Rebekkah Barrow, Amity seeks out the enigmatic Mr. D, who seems to be Death himself, only to discover that the centuries-old contract to protect Claysville has been broken.

Caught between life in a cursed town and Death himself, Amity and Rebekkah must find a way to put the dead where they belong - because if the hungry dead keep rising, everyone in town will be lost.

I should be used to book addiction by now

For me Cursed By Death started as a slow build - the first few chapters taking me a beat to adjust to the voices. But once I did, I was all in. The story gripped me by the throat and didn't let go. Melissa Marr often makes me wonder if she's okay, and this book was no different. The weird was extra weird. the adorable was endearing. And the ending had me cursing her name (in a good way!). I sincerely hope there will be more Graveminder in the future because this book blew far past any expectations I had.

Engrossing Story (Read the first book in the series first.)

First rating ****
This book took awhile to get into it. Most likely I should have started with the first book in the series. Because I didn’t it took me awhile to figure what the heck was going on. However, I was completely hooked from beginning to end. I couldn’t stop listening.

This book is well written, decently paced, and the characters are unique and intriguing. I’m going to go get the first book in the series to listen to now.

Wow, what a difference. Things made so much more sense and I got a ton more enjoyment out of this book and the series by reading them in order.

I highly recommend this book and series. I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book in this series.

Disappointed and sad to admit it

There are very few books that don't keep my interest. This one took over a year for me to complete. It was very dry and the narrator did not have much range vocally.
