Danger In The Hills - Flint River Series, Book 3 ~ A Romantic Suspense

Special Agent Jack Stone leads an FBI contingent raiding a neo-Nazi compound in northern Idaho. The fanatics are responsible for the attempted bombing of an elementary school in Chicago. When the dust settles, the team realizes the group’s two leaders have escaped. Gone also, is an unaccounted for, mysterious beauty whom Jack noticed on the grounds that morning.

Jack and his partner Rick, along with an FBI search squad, track the fugitives into the deep woods. It is imperative they capture the neo-Nazi leaders before they reestablish their terrorist plot. Jack must also discover the unknown woman’s identity, and determine what part she plays in the extremist organization.

Separated from his team, Jack forges on alone, unwilling to risk losing the murderous leaders. He is hot on their trial when a brutal blizzard hits the mountains. Jack is caught in the storm—wounded and unprepared. Just as Jack loses consciousness, he glimpses her—the enigmatic woman. But is she friend or foe?

Nothing is what it seems in the !

The book continues the series about the Stone Family. I can only hope it’s not the last, because this series has such a strong family dynamics . The Stone family has suffered pain, loss, as well as love and new friendships. Now they must face new challenges, their younger brother is missing and a blizzard is in their way.

Suspenseful & Thrilling

I enjoyed book three of the "Flint River Series" as much as the first two. As soon as the audiobook started, I was gripped by the story and had to listen until its end. Special Agent Jack Stone led a raiding party on a neo-Nazi compound, but the leaders of the group were missing. Jack and his contingent started to search the woods, when a blizzard began. Jack was separated from his group. I liked the characters and the relationship between Jack and his partner, Rick Sanchez. Rick's determination to find Jack was admirable. The story held twists that kept my attention. Nick Cracknell's narration was entertaining. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review which included my opinions.

Danger In The Hills (Flint River Series Book 3), my eighteenth read from author Jodi Burnett, who is one of my favorite authors. As I wait for the next book in her current series I've gone back to an earlier series I hadn't yet read. I downloaded this 6-hour 34-minute/217-page read and immediately started reading it. A Jodi Burnett book is like a visit from an old friend and makes an Auduble re-read worthwhile. "I was given an Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more in this series with A Flint River Christmas - An Exclusive Epilogue Novella next on my TBR list, and look forward to SPEC OPS K9 (Tin Star K9 Series Book 8) when it's published in October of 2024. If you like Julie Garwood's suspense works you'll LOVE Jodi Burnett! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Thoroughly enjoyed this!

I am a HUGE fan of Jodi Burnett and this does not disappoint. Set in the northern Idaho mountains, this story has it all; danger, suspense and romance. Jodi does a great job with the character development. She expertly crafts the story to keep us guessing and in suspense. This story picks up where Book 2 left off. I recommend you read this series in order, although it is not necessary.

Can Jack survive the elements and the Neo-Nazis?

I listened to this via Audible. I thought this was a pretty good story. It kept me engaged the entire time. When I had to take a break to get certain things done, I couldn’t wait to get back to the story.

Jack’s operation takes him to the Neo-Nazi compound. There is a raid but they don’t get their main guys.

I learned more about the Neo-Nazi philosophy and how Waco was even possible. Lemmings looking for direction and then having their life altered through brainwashing.

This book was entertaining. I would love more in this series.

The best book of the Flint River series!

Jodi Burnett’s Flint River series has quickly become my favorite of her series. Danger in the Hills focused on Jack Stone and his FBI team going after the Neo-Nazis in Idaho responsible for the aborted Chicago bombing covered in Run for the Hills, book 1 of the series. Along with plenty of action, this story was an excellent character study of Jack and a young lady who rescues and takes care of him in the mountains. Saying much more about the story might provide spoilers and that would be unforgivable. This story deserves to be experienced without much prior knowledge. My review is based on listening to Nick Cracknell narrate Jodi’s excellent story. Nick does an awesome job with the character voices and delivering the story and bringing it to life along with the characters. I’ll be patiently waiting for the next installment in the series.

...rife with tension, danger and intensity.

This book was the ideal conclusion to an engaging series. Picking up where book two left off, the story is rife with tension, danger and intensity. The narration was good bringing the story to life. J.B created characters that were interesting. I would love to see some of the supporting characters get their own story. What happens when Jack and Laurel travel to Scotland?
