Publisher's summary

On the surface, the world glitters with all things only money can buy. My thoughts should be on the danger lurking beneath the surface. The money and power come from places and dealings the world pretends don't exist. I'm here at this debutante ball as a representative of the new Sparrow underworld. The clock is ticking as alliances are formed and enemies eliminated.

There isn't time to be distracted, and yet I catch a glimpse of the stunning woman across the room.

Surely, she's untouchable to someone like me. Maybe she's royalty or the daughter of a dignitary. Yet I'm drawn to her in a way I can't describe. Her beautiful, seductive smile, bright emerald eyes, and luscious red hair beckon me until I find myself by her side.

Her voice sings to me while her laugh shines sunlight into my dark and dangerous world.

And then the clock strikes midnight and she's gone.

I want more than that first kiss.

From New York Times best-selling author Aleatha Romig comes an intriguing and fun prologue to her newest romantic-suspense trilogy, Dangerous Web: Danger's First Kiss - a modern Cinderella story.

This novella is set in the dangerous world of the Sparrow Webs. You do not need to hear Web of Sin, Tangled Web, or Web of Desire to get caught up in this new dark-romance saga, Dangerous Web.

Cute

Very cute intro...but tale as old as time. Modern twist. I am sure there are twist and turns in the following books.

Great Story!

4.5 stars
First, let me say that I love all things in the Sparrow world and to see how Lorna and Reid meet was a good start. I only wish there was more. But I know there will be so I am not going to be sad for too long.
Lorna and Mason are the best brother and sister, always taking care of each other. She is independent, sassy, and hard-working. He is an alpha male and sometimes overprotective. This is a look into their world after they got away from their toxic mother and he got back from the military. And Lorna had graduated high school. So life moves on and Mason wants to keep Lorna safe.
While at a "ball" she meets Mr. tall, dark, and handsome, aka Reid. But at midnight the fairy tale ends and she goes back to cleaning rooms.
As this series progresses through each couple, their backstories can sometimes be heartbreaking. But please keep reading as with all of the series I have read from author Aleatha Romig, she has a way of breaking your heart and putting it back together and making you love the characters even more. So jump in the Sparrow world with both feet and fall in love. I can not wait for more with Lorna and Reid. And I look forward to reading the rest of these dark fairy tales.

If you're a cusser, it speaks your language.

Major overuse of the word F**king. The plot was good. I personally prefer male narrators, so for me that was a negative.

Intriguing

A fantastic introduction to the Dangerous Web series. This is told from Lorna's POV and her upbringing with her siblings, but this is the beginning of Reid and Lorna's journey. Definitely intriguing! Cannot wait to see what comes next.

Perfect prequel

I Love the Sparrow web books and I adore Lorna. She's amazing and learning how she and Reid first connected was so Cinderella-esk and romantic. Even includes the shoes. Lol

Frustrating!

This is an interesting first glimpse into a Modern Day gritty Cinderella story that hints at many things to come but doesn’t really give the reader a lot of details and in this case it’s frustrating. I listened to the audiobook version and the narration by Sarah McEwan was okay.

Mysteriously seductive

Truth be told, I was a bit hesitant to read another book from the author. Not because I do not like her, but because I was not in the mood for a very dark romance (my first book from her was like a black coffee for me, sorry!). But when I found out that it was a prequel and it was also short, I jumped into reading it. It was okay, although there are trigger warnings here for child abuse and mention of incest. I am half curious about what exactly happened to the siblings (this part was brief). I hope this is pointed out in the rest of the series. The best part of this novella, though, is the meet-cute. It is close to the feel of the fairy tale that it's patterned after; it indeed tickled my curiosity to read the rest of the series.
