About this listen

Immortal passions rage as evil grows in this gripping novel in Christine Feehan’s #1 New York Times bestselling Carpathian series.

Silke Vriese Reinders knows a war is coming. The demon slayer has seen it over and over again in the cards—and the battle will be for the survival of not just her remote village but all mankind. Silke knows the only way to win will be with the help of the Carpathians. A fact that fills her with trepidation, as she is fated to be the lifemate to one of the ancient supernatural warriors—bound to a complete stranger and responsible for his soul.

One of the oldest, most dangerous Carpathians, Benedek Kovak is more beast than man. He’s been locked away for centuries, and the only thing that has stopped him from becoming one of the monsters he’s sworn to battle is the thought of his lifemate. When Benedek senses the impending danger, he sets out to find her before it’s too late. But their enemy has laid a trap that pushes him closer to turning than ever before.

For so long Benedek has felt nothing. Now some dark art is compelling him to indulge in cravings he thought were long buried. He has no hope that anyone can repair what’s left of his tainted soul, but Silke is nothing like he imagined. Perhaps she’s strong enough to fight back the darkness. Perhaps together they can defeat an adversary hell-bent on destroying them all …

Good story

Great story from a series that I love. I enjoyed on both kindle and audible platforms. Just the beginning was a bit off to me but it ended strong. I just could not keep my interest at the very beginning so tried audible with it because I knew I would enjoy it. Thank you for another good story.

Really good story, characters, and plot

I love the old and new characters especially the female protagonists. The villains, and there are many, are almost worthy of pity in spite of their evil. I would have loved to know more about ALL of the dragons. The story seems to be almost in need of a sequel or at least a few more chapters. The stories about the dying mother, what Lilith will do for avenge her losses, even how the villagers deal with the changes in Silke now that she is a Carpathian all seem open ended. Obviously Justice will require his own book and I’m dying to see what happens with him. Great work, I just wanted more information as noted.

Great story of sacrifice

This book must have been the hardest of all the previous books in this series to write especially in this current culture climate. I realized this and it made me enjoy the book even more. I long for another dark celebration book. If Justice did get loose he will find his lifemate but the struggle will be a huge fight with many of the brethren fighting in a life or death fight to help him realize he has found a lifemate, then will come to harsh healing from his time spent in tbe underworld

Dragons and a mysterious forest

An enjoyable read in the continuing story of the carpathian ancients search for their life mates. A little more on the mysterious carpathian behind the gates and his escape adds fire shadowing of what is to come

Dark Hope

I found this book tended to drag on. I did not like the disjointed manner in which the story was told. It jumped around too much not as enjoyable read and did not hold my attention as well as previous books in this series.

ChatGPT could have written this better….

I literally thought I was listening to her last book. I even checked to see if I had purchased the wrong book.

This is dragging on and on……and on. I have listened to at least two hours and she hasn’t even met her lifemate. At this point I don’t even care if she meets her lifemate.

This girl is a demon slayer. There is a part where she is fighting a sea serpent (who is growing in a humble fisherman’s body). I kinda wished the sea serpent would just kill her.

She has a Carpathian lady friend (just like the last book, hence my initial confusion). It isn’t clear if the lady Carpathian has a lifemate. If she did, it would make for a far more interesting story than this garbage.

Like the last book, the lady friend (who is different yet the same as the lady in the last book) is protecting a door that some bad guy keeps knocking on. Don’t the Carpathians treasure their females? If so, why is “The Prince of Their People” leaving her to defend it alone?

Of course, the first part has Benedek and his motley crew of sad monastery dudes fighting the vampires.

There is the usual drivel of the magical tattoos, which is the only thing keeping them from turning (blah blah). At this point, Benedek wonders if the tats even matter, even though he knows he has a lifemate. He doesn’t care, and I don’t care either.

As always, the master vamp has his posse of lesser vamps. As always, the lesser vamps take one for the team. Who are the lesser vamps really? Are they turned Carpathians? Have you noticed she never really explains vampire hierarchy? I was so bored with this book that I began to ponder this.

Let’s be honest. We are all sticking with this series to see what happens with Gary. Now it is obvious that she is going to write at least three more books about the sad monastery guys.

I have been a loyal fan of her dark series. I saved my Audible credit for this book. I am wondering, where is the passion from Dark Magic? Where is the chemistry from Dark Predator?

Dump this series and go over to Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark. She has a new one coming out in March. Give her your money, because this isn’t worth it. Wait until you can get it for free on Libby.
