Risking danger, she finds hope and love

The Irregulars return safely home to 1803 England, their magic strengthened by their heroic efforts at Dunkirk. But Tory is shocked when she realizes that the ever deepening relationship with Allarde will cost him everything. If Tory really loves him, she must walk away so he can find a non-magical mate and avoid being disinherited. But does she have the strength to leave the love of her life?

Cynthia's heroic efforts at Dunkirk have won her the respect of the Irregulars, but her sharp tongue keeps everyone at a distance. Does she have the courage to risk love?

Then the Irregulars are drawn into a dangerous attempt to rescue a vitally important scientist from Nazi-occupied France. Countless lives are at stake, but when the mission goes awry, will they all survive to return home?

"Dark Passage is hard to put down…The characters will leave you thinking about them long after you finish the story." (Fresh Fiction)

from 1803 England to Northern France 1940

Time-traveling magelings are summoned to Northern France, risking their lives to use all their magic, might, and cunning to save a Medical researcher working on antibiotics. This book was not as good as the first, but it was still enjoyable to see Tory and her group settle back into life at Lackland after their first adventure, then get literally dragged into a war zone in 1940 France. The story line is cute and engaging both on a personal level for the characters as well as the adventure. They also learn to save energy between mirror locations by using message stones which adds flexibility to the stranded nature of mirror travel and the huge energy demands it requires.

A Treat

Characters you would like to meet, exciting action, and a history lesson. Who could ask for more? I’m always on the lookout for Mary Jo Putney’s books, but I missed these YA books that were published 10 years ago, but were just released as audiobooks. The reader is good. I do wish she would make more of an effort to differentiate voices. For instance, Justin and Jack are from different social classes but sound identical. That’s a minor quibble and I’ve already bought the next book in the series.

Very entertaining

I think this book is my favorite of the series, but I liked them all. The book was written and narrated in such a way that pulled me right into the story. Siobhan Waring did a great job in giving voice to all of JMP's delightful characters. All the books in this series would be challenging to any narrator because of all the different accents, but Ms Waring was up to the challenge.
