About this listen
Listeners first met Anna Marshall in The Soprano Sorceress, when she wished to be anything other than a music teacher and singer in Iowa - this was before she was pulled into the world of Erde, where her gift of song became a gift of magic. Her musical ability has since given Anna influence, control, and the potential to be an enormously powerful sorceress.
Now, as the regent of Defalk, Anna must battle two men who would destroy her and claim Defalk for their own.

In the far future among the colonized worlds of the galaxy, there's a war going on between the majority of civilized worlds and a colonial theocracy. Trystin Desoll grows up fighting against religious fanatics and becomes a hero, a first-class pilot, then, amazingly, a spy. What do you do if you're a relatively humane soldier fighting millions of suicidal volunteers on the other side who know that they are utterly right, and you are utterly wrong, with no middle ground? Trystin Desoll has an idea.

Soon Alec is traveling roads he never knew existed, toward a war he never suspected was brewing. Before long he and Seregil are embroiled in a sinister plot that runs deeper than either can imagine and that may cost them far more than their lives if they fail. But fortune is as unpredictable as Alec's new mentor.

Story
Their peace was a fragile thing, but it had endured for seven years, mostly because the people of Darassus and the king of the Naor hordes believed his doom was foretold upon the edge of the great sword hung in the hall of champions. Unruly Naor clans might raid across the border, but the king himself would never lead his people to war so long as the blade remained in the hands of his enemies. But when squire Elenai’s aging uncovers evidence that the sword in their hall is a forgery, she’s forced to flee Darassus for her life, her only ally the reckless, disillusioned Kyrkenall.

The tiny kingdom of Yurt is the perfect place - or so it seems - for someone who barely managed to graduate from the wizards' school, especially after all that embarrassment with the frogs. But Daimbert, newly hired Royal Wizard of Yurt, senses an evil spell at work. But who could be responsible? The beautiful young queen? Her flighty aunt? The dour chaplain? The old, retired Royal Wizard, who seems to know more than he's saying? Or someone from out of the castle's past?

One Big problem for me.....2 stars reduced because...
I love the story, setting, characters, conflicts everthing but for one HUGE,glaring and annoying Detail..and.is ever present......
In the midst of this alternate dimension, what could have possesed the author to put a character, named, "Jim Bob"..worse future "Lord Jim Bob".. the pepple are descibed as speaking kind of old English/Germanic, language,in a narrated story!
I am over 70 hours onto this saga, and I swear, it is sp irritating, and incongruous that I am ready to just quit listening.
The name suggests a redneck, country character out of the backwoods , spitting tobacco and wearinf plaid flannel shirt. in America, not a magical feudal civilization..
Perhaps it is appropriate in a feudal setting, but I have not ever read any reference, and it seems. way out of place and time to me.
It ruins an otherwise well written tale.
Very Bad Choice, IMO.

good enough, not wonderful
Continuation of a predictable storyline. The reader looses some effectiveness trying to effect male vocal tones, and still, the term is VOCALEEZ, not vocalize. Tantor Media, please consider technical advisors for your readers.
