Publisher's summary

After his childhood is turned upside down, orphan David Copperfield is forced to navigate and survive the brutal world of the industrial poor. He'll cross classes and paths with kindred spirits, extended family, eccentrics, and adversaries. Throughout his journey into adulthood, he'll be befriended, loved, and conspired against. And each evolving adventure - comic, tragic, and romantic, both at home and abroad - will inform the observant young man's success as he becomes a novelist.

In his most autobiographical work - the one he considered his "favorite child" - Charles Dickens etched a gallery of indelible characters, including the cruel Murdstone, the recklessly optimistic Micawber, the devious Uriah Heep, and Dora and Agnes, the faithful loves of David's life. Enduringly popular, David Copperfield is considered by many to be Dickens' masterpiece.

Revised edition: Previously published as David Copperfield, this edition of David Copperfield (AmazonClassics Edition) includes editorial revisions.

Superb narration !

Mr. Perkins once again lends his superior talent in the telling of such a superior classic. He gives it the voice you always knew it should have. Time so very very well spent in the listening. Bravo!

Very good narration

I listened to three other narrations before choosing this one (I'm very picky about narrators, to the point of being OCD 😝). What I like most about Derek Perkins is that he doesn't overdo the regional and class accents like some other narrators do. He gives the characters enough variety and color to differentiate them without going over the top and making them sound silly and annoying (a problem that you find in a lot of Dickens audiobooks). He also has a warm and endearing voice that I find perfect for David Copperfield. And at $2 (with whispersync) this version is a great deal! Note: this review is for the narration only. I haven't listened to the whole book yet.

Impactful examples people being their best, worst, and the somewhere in between.

I will miss these characters, I became so attached to them. It was so well built, the development of stories was meaningful and natural.
Very fun and touching also. It was so interesting how it captured love and loyalty from all aspects you may encounter in life.

I used both the audio narration and kindle version, it was a joy to read and the narration was great!

Not my favorite Dickens

Not my favorite Dickens book, but I wanted to read it for the autobiographical properties. There's no story here, just a rolling description of people's lives, that wraps up at a point in their lives.
