Publisher's summary

The Online Stage presents David Copperfield by Charles Dickens.

In a comprehensive and beautifully crafted first person narrative, David Copperfield recalls key stages, memories, and incidents of his life from infancy to maturity.

Scenes, adventures, and characters are summoned to the narrator's remembrance so vividly that they are rendered with the vitality of the present moment.

In this dramatized reading of the unabridged novel, a cast of 15 narrators bring to life over 100 characters, among them the eccentric Betsey Trotwood; the stern, inflexible Murdstones; the fawning and treacherous Uriah Heep; the captivating Dora Spenlow; and the impecunious but ever optimistic Wilkins Micawber.

David Copperfield is the eighth novel by Charles Dickens, first published as a serial in 1849-1850, and then as a book in 1850. It has remained one of his most popular novels and was stated by the author to be his "favorite child".

A long read!

I did enjoy this book and the audible performances, but my goodness, it was very long indeed. I wanted to read it because Barbara kingsolver’s has a new book out that was inspired by David Copperfield. So now that I have finish this book, I am on to “Demon Copperhead,”

A long wonderful ride

I listened to David Copperfield because it inspired. Barbara Kingsolver’s Demon Copperhead which I had just finished and loved. I enjoyed both books and while I could definitely see the parallels, both stand alone as wonderful books. . DC is a very long listen, but I enjoyed the ride. The narration was wonderful and added to my willingness to stick with it to the end

David Copperfield - well read

My only problem was with the same actor playing Heep and. Ham. The actor is perfect for Heep and does an excellent job. Hammshould have a youmger, more athletic sounding voice.
Yet - I truly loved the reading!

Enjoyed it very much

I love a long story and this one was very well told. I am a Dickens fan. The multiple narrators added to my enjoyment. Not for anyone who wants to skip the details.
