Papa Moll – eine zeitlose Figur.
Papa Moll, der umtriebige, hilfsbereite und vielseitige Familienvater, der es immer so gut meint, und gerade damit immer wieder Pech hat, gehört zu den bekanntesten Schweizer Kinderbuchhelden. Seit Erscheinen in der 50er Jahren begeistern die Geschichten rund um Papa Moll und seine Familie Generation um Generation. Der liebenswürdige Antiheld gerät durch seine tollpatschige Art immer wieder in Schwierigkeiten, die er gemeinsam mit seiner Frau, seinen drei Kinder und dem Dackel Tschips kreativ meistert.
Entstehungsgeschichte:
1952 erhielt die Künstlerin Edith Oppenheim-Jonas (1907 – 2001) den Auftrag, für die Kinderzeitschrift JUNIOR eine Comic-Figur zu entwerfen. Anstoß dafür gab die Pro Juventute, die eine Alternative zu den Comics aus dem Ausland wünschte. Und so erfand die dreifache Mutter die Kinderfigur Papa Moll, welche später Generation um Generation begeistern sollte. Die ersten Kurzgeschichten mit Papa Moll und seiner Familie erschienen ab 1953 in den JUNIOR-Heften. Ab 1967 erscheinen die Papa Moll-Geschichten in Buchform beim HUG-Verlag und ab 1974 beim Globi Verlag, der wiederum seit 2007 zum Orell Füssli Verlag gehört.
Vorbild für Papa Moll:
Die Geschichte des Papa Moll spiegelt die Geschichte seiner Schöpferin Edith Oppenheim-Jonas. Wer in alten Briefen, Fotoalben und Zeichenmappen stöbert, stößt immer wieder auf Bekanntes: Der Vater, ein bekannter, vielseitiger Ingenieur, Erfinder und passionierter Schachspieler, trägt die Züge von Papa Moll. Auch die Mutter von Edith ist wohl Vorbild. Ihr Familiensinn lebt weiter in der Gestalt von Mama Moll. Aber auch die eigene Familie von Edith Oppenheim-Jonas weist Züge der Moll-Familie auf: zwei Söhne und eine Tochter und selbst der Dackel entsprechen der Wirklichkeit. Viele der Geschichten gehen auf reale Ereignisse und Erlebnisse in der eigenen Familie zurück.
