Publisher's summary

Things may be tranquil at the lake house, but a storm is on the horizon.

Bradley and Anna have their work cut out for them; winter is upon them, and they need to be smart if they’re to survive the winter in this dangerous new world, bereft of technology.

They work their bodies to the bone to stock up for the winter, and in the process find a little girl, having run away from her family in hiding.

Soon, however, it becomes clear that her "family" is anything but conventional and they begin to realize they’ve made some powerful and unhinged enemies....

The story continues

This one was a struggle. I wanted him to be happy but life has other plans. This causes dilemmas of a moral kind. Each way stinks but a decision is made. Now to live ....now survive with the consequences.

I love these characters but hate them as well. Annie just frustrates me. Then it’s sad to see how people are now that life has changed. I am hoping Brad get something to smile about soon

I listened to this on audio. Andrew B Wehrlen is doing amazing with this series. He is easy to listen to and has a lovely voice.

Just as good as the first

I received a free copy of this in exchange for an unbiased review. I was worried this would be a let down considering how good the first one was. My only complaint is that it's over. Where do we go from here?

Winter and lost of friends and home

I am using the same review on all the books in this series very little changed
Found this very interesting due to death and virus came before the EMP attack and maybe the use of the EMPS was use in hope of killing the nano and finding a cure for the virus. Man has gone to the point that they have developed nanotechnology to cure diseases and in some they actually people younger. Then one day the nano started to kill instead of healing the person and before long ninety percent of humanity had died and we start to see civilization start to collapse.
Brad is the main character before this he was a veterinarian and life was so so but he was happy. You take the trip from when everything starts falling apart up, his escape to a cabin his father owned who was a prepper and finally Brad having to grow up and learn you must defend yourself or die and killing a man who was trying to steal from him. The women and her child he took in knocks him out and leaves hime and then he has to save them.
The story you meet other characters some good and some bad and found I could not stop listening and I hope you enjoy it as much as i.

The struggle to survive continues.

Picking up not lone after the events of The Longest Night, Dead of Winter continues the story of survive for Brad, Anna, and Sam in the dangerous post apocalyptic world. The early part of the book focuses on the trio preparing for the coming winter, until one day when Brad is out on a supply run and finds another lost soul...which brings with her a boatload of trouble. You know you're enjoying a story and the characters when you find yourself talking/yelling at them for stuff they are doing...and I did that several times while listening to this book. Definitely look forward to seeing where the story goes from here. As always, Andrew Wehrlen does a great job with the narration.

I Couldn't Turn It Off

Excellent job to both K.M. Fawkes and Andrew Wehrlen. Great story and excellent narration.

This leaves me waiting for more....but why is book 4 on Audible, but not book 3?

Campy listen for cold winter nights

Or not so cold anymore this time of the year, but it is definitely something to listen when you cozy up around the fireplace. The narrator is very soothing, although in the middle of the book it started to somewhat bother, as I started to have a feeling I was listening to it at the 1.25x speed, so it was quick sentences followed by a breathing pause. Overall it did not take anything away from the experience and by the end of the book it left me wanting to know more, so I had to get the next book to find out how the story continues.

Dead of Winter

Loved it!I didn't want to stop reading it! Brad,Anna and danny are living a mostly calm life when a stranger brings hell to their door. Narration by Andrew B Wehrlen was the perfect narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Great series and narrator

I’m really enjoying this series
Winters coming and brad is teaching Sam survival tactics
Anna seems like she’s hiding something refusing to let brad get closer to her
Add a 10 year old runaway brad saves and the crazy family that want her back and you got a nice setup for book 3
Andrews narration was excellent As always his female and kid voices are spot on Highly recommended

What a cliff hanger!

Excellent continuation of the story. Brad, Anna & Sammie finally get a routine going And the budding romance gets messed up as usual for these types of books. Then the crazy people show up. What will Brad do now that he’s lost everything? Book 3 I’m ready for you!
Excellent narration by Andrew B Wehrlen.
