Publisher's summary

After a youth filled with tragedy and upheaval, Sarah Miller's life is finally settled with all echoes of the past silent at last. She happily calls Sanctuary her home and spends her days teaching at the local school.

Sarah's joy at her recent reunion with her sister, Hannah, and meeting the niece she didn't know she had is too soon interrupted when Deputy Sheriff Paul Gleason informs Sarah her sister has been killed.

As she learns more about Hannah's death, the circumstances are eerily similar to their parents' murder. Sarah enlists Paul's help in digging deeper into the murders the police are dismissing as burglaries gone wrong. Paul's concern encourages Sarah's growing feelings for him, but as their investigation peels back the layers of lies almost 20 years old, they get close to uncovering the truth one person will do anything to hide - even if that means coming after the last remaining members of the Miller family.

The Leaning on God

I liked how the author didn’t use the opportunity to turn this into overdone romance but slowly and sweetly allowed love ❤️ to blossom and the characters always Put God First 🙏🏻

Wonderful story

I loved this book, but did not like the narrator at all. She had so little emotion in her voice that it was a real struggle to just keep listening. However, I loved the action, suspense, and romance in it. I will however be reading it next time.

Great storyline

I really liked the overall storyline. Toward the end I could tell who the bad person was going to be but I liked it anyway

Stopped early because it was so boring

I had to stop this book because halfway through the book there was relatively no action. It started out Okay but slowed down. There was so much inner monologue and extraneous details that added nothing to the story. At one point the main character/narrator is debating over whether to get decaf coffee or regular. I thought surely this must lead to a plot point, but it did not. Very disappointing.
