An ambush by superior forces…interference from external powers…

In book two of the fast-paced Reaper Series, the team must divide their forces before things go too far.

After Team Reaper’s convoy is attacked by cartel soldiers and American mercenaries, Kane and Ferrero agree that the chain of command needs to be streamlined. The decision sees the team get a new overall commander, former Ranger, General Mary Thurston.

But more bad news is on the way....

Juan Montoya and Colin O’Brien escape from prison, and the facility where Kane’s sister and Cara’s son are at is attacked, and the boy taken. On top of that, the team is lured into a trap and Kane, along with a new team member, are captured.

Now the race is on to find the boy and the two team members, all while Montoya is planning a devastating blow to exact revenge against the American Government.

the scene on the prison island was contrived and was like watching a sci-fi where you need to ignore reality.

overall the action was good and kept me engaged. As always the narration was excellent.

Suspend belief a bit to accept that Reaper is so very good at everything, and so very tough, but that's how we like our heroes! There's quite a lot of blood spray and body parts flying in this book, so the listener may grow desensitized. The gun and caliber talk gets a bit monotonous (hence the 4 stars), but it's okay. That's what we're here for.

The team has some good characters that make the story fun and believable. The plot is good, complicated and intertwined.

The narration is better on the voices than on the straight prose, but good.

The author Brent Towns has written another great novel, with an excellent storyline. The narrationis superb and brings the characters to life

Not great. Characters are hokey like something from a cartoon. The conversations are inane and the accents, mostly twangy, are painful. Lots of stereo-types for characters backgrounds which I assume some may find offensive. The action is very repetitive and comical as every kill includes a description of which NATO round was employed. There are much better alternatives available.
