About this listen

Death is supposed to be the end. Not in my world.

The dead never move on, not since Death walked off the job and disappeared. As a necromancer, it's my job to police the spirits while they remain stuck and, well, problematic a lot of the time. Death really needs to take his head out of his backside and get back to work, wherever he might be.

After a horrible incident in the tunnels of the London Underground, my life takes a sharp turn. It's all my fault and I'm sent off to a small town, a move to keep me out of sight and mind for the time being. Shamed, reputation dragged through the dirt. I'm not getting that promotion anytime soon.

On my first day in the town, I get caught up in a strange murder case, and Death saves my life. Yes, the Death. The delectable, mysterious Death.

Goodness, he is hotness personified. But what happened to make him walk away from his responsibilities? And why is he so deliciously tempting, my desire a raging inferno every time he looks at me with those incredible eyes? I shouldn't be thinking of an immortal being like this, but with every passing hour I can't stop myself from falling deeper into infatuation.

I want him.

Resistance is . . . impossible.

I love this story cant wait till the next one

I love the story. I love the details on the Lich. other books that have witches usually just have them as mindless or lesser Undead creatures. but this story has great promise. in my opinion

Death is hot!

What an interesting concept for a story…I’m intrigued to see where this leads. The lead-up in the story was a bit long and at times a bit convoluted but it certainly peaked my curiosity…without spoiling anything, the reveal was lack luster, not a lot of detail, which I assume the book will provide more depth and detail…looking forward to listening to it.

Great story. Great narration.

I didn't know what direction the romance or the story was headed. I was engaged with both the plot and the characters from the very beginning. I really like Marcel. The author does a wonderful job of developing a very personable main character who is easy to relate to. I want to give Marcel a hug and bake cookies for him. The entire cast of characters is interesting, and I wouldn't mind hanging out at the coffee shop with them. Even the antagonist.

Cooper North does a wonderful job of creating identifiable voices for a large cast of characters. His performance is smooth, his French accent is nicely done, and his voice is pleasant to listen to. I speak just enough French to be aggravated by bad accents. I was pleasantly surprised by Cooper North's performance. I couldn't wait to start the next book.

This is a wonderful read/listen if you are looking for an urban fantasy with romance, mythology, and necromancer magic.

unable to finish...

characters all too one dimentional to be engaging, story too weak to capture my attention, production is good if you need white noise for a nap. Couldn't make it thru the last hour as it was just too repetitively stale and unengaging...
