Publisher's summary

Lela and the Alexanders are back on another case. The bodies are coming in fast and things between Lela and Jordan are heating up. The team will have to race against the clock to stop the murders and crack the case.

Once we were all in position, I visually scanned the house at the end of the street. I had to use night vision goggles to get a good feel for the place while everyone else could use their regular eyes. Once I had the lay of the land, I probed around the back of the house where I couldn't see. There was one lowly guard out there. The guard began to make his way back to the front of the house, leaving the back completely unguarded. That's when I sent the signal for all teams to move in.

great continuation

Loved the new instalment in the series. The unexpected twists in the story had me listening well into the night. Broke my heart when the two orphaned kids were found and their story. Jordan is becoming quite possessive and I am glad that Lela stands her ground, but I do hope they will get their differences aired because their chemistry is off the charts. Loved Lela's sister, who we actually meet in this story, she is fun and so are her sons. The dynamics of that family is quite fun to discover. Ethan is still my fave, the charming rogue :D

My first listen from Ms. Brazil. Her voice is pleasant, but technique is not quite there. The mixing up of voices in quite a few places, male voices almost non-existent and the sudden pitch switches were distracting and pulled me out of the story. The improvement of these would surely bring a 5-star performance.

It can be read/listened to as a standalone, but to understand the storyline better, I would advise starting with book 1. I am so looking forward to the next book. Ms. Josephs! I am hooked!

Drama, romance, humor and paranormal all in one!

After having listened to the first 2 books in the Alexander Ranch series, I was excited to get to listen to the third one. I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I really enjoyed getting to know Lela, Jordan, and the rest of the Alexander Ranch family a little bit better. While listening to the story, at times I was holding my breath, and other times I was laughing out loud. With the drama, romance, humor and the touch of the paranormal, this book keeps you wanting to listen until the end. JC Brazil did a great job narrating this book.
I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

The Alexanders are Back to Solve Another Mystery

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. The Alexander Ranch Series books just keep getting better and better. Same characters, new PNR mystery. Even though I have listened to the previous two audiobooks in this series, which was narrated by a different narrator, this story was written so that it can be a stand-alone or continuation in the series. The author provides enough of characters back stories that you don't have to read/listen to the first two books and can start with this one. I'm excited to listen to the 4th & 5th books when they come to audible and see what antics Lela Charles and the Alexanders get into next. Even though this book was narrated by a different female performer, I could barely tell a difference which was very pleasing. I'm not a fan of changing performers when you are already used to someone else performing the same character in a series. If the performance is for different characters in a series, then it's even better when they use different narrators, and helps to make the characters and stories more believable and brought to life.

Storyline continues to be great

I love the story and how it continues with excitement and love and mystery. The only problem I had with the book is there was a new narrator. Once I got past the voices and the change so I was familiar with the characters again, I enjoyed it.

Keeps Getting Better!

The Alexander Ranch series just keeps getting better with each book and this, the third book in the series is my favorite… so far! Lela and the Alexanders are on the hunt for a serial killer, maybe two! It’s definitely a great mystery story with a lot of suspense added and it’s not just the thrill of tracking down the killer, but also watching, with fascination the burgeoning romance developing between Lela and Jordan.

I must admit, I’ve had to warm up to the cautious and standoffish way Lela is in her relationship with Jordan. They definitely have chemistry, but the thing about Lela is, she refuses to be ruled by emotion or physical compatibility. Poor Jordan, will he ever learn that Lela is like a porcupine and when you get her riled up you’re gonna be gingerly removing those quills, that are inevitably coming your way! Let’s just say that both Lela and Jordan have some serious issues to work on, I’m rooting for them.

JC Brazil is the narrator of this audiobook and I’m always a little hesitant when I see that the author changes narrators in the middle of a series. My worry was unfounded, JC Brazil did a fantastic job, her pacing was perfect and the time just flew by listening to this audiobook, that is just under six hours in length. I will definitely be on the lookout for more from this narrator. The audio production quality was clear and free of errors.

I look forward to the release of the fourth book in the series.

Excellent Audible Story

This is a wonderful stand-alone audible book, but I feel it is good to listen to stories in order as people from other audible books and their relationships are mentioned in the new books. This book tugged on my heartstrings a lot and had me in tears. I enjoyed reading about the relationships between Lela, her family and the Alexanders. I hope we continue to see that grow in future books. The narrator is excellent. She used different voices for each of the characters, which made it easy to follow along.

The end of Lela & Jordan?

Sigh...I’m still team Jordan! This book starts off w Lela & the Alexanders investigating the unexplained deaths of several men & women. It’s apparent to the Alexander crew that these ppl have been drained of their life force and so Lela is called in to read minds. As always there’s lots of drama...and one particular incident that has Jordan going all caveman on Lela. I thought it was sweet but, of course Lela disagreed! She dumped poor Jordan...no HEA but the murders were solved so there’s that. Yes I loved this book! Love the series!

Volume 3

What did you love best about Deep in the Night?

Book 3 in the Alexander Ranch Matter series. The folks at the ranch investigate issues involving those who can "drain" life energy from "normals" and turn it into a crime. The main character Lela is a novice psychic who helps them solve their cases. A well written paranormal mystery with a dose of romance on the side.

I love this Series so much!!

This is the 3rd in the captivating Alexander Ranch Series. The adventure continues with Jordan, Lela and the Alexanders. I like this Series (characters, stories, descriptions, the paranormal side, the pace). The narration is also well done. You must give it a try. Marla Josephs is an excellent author. I can't wait to listen to the book 4!!
