About this listen

Before tragedy left her crippled, Artemis "Temi" Sidaris was a world-class tennis player at the height of her career. The sport was her passion, her dream, and all she ever wanted to do. Fighting monsters...was not part of the plan.

But when a pair of pointy-eared strangers offers to heal her injury if she's willing to wield a powerful sword to protect humanity...how can she resist?

Destiny Unchosen is a novella that takes place between Torrent and Thorn Fall.

Training, it's a good thing to get.

Quite an enjoyable read. And I found this 1.5 version much tighter than the first book. Okay, what's next I will continue reading this series.

Great Read

This was s great add on to the first story. I cannot wait for the second boos in the series. The character continue to unfold and Timi grows as a character.

Spoiler:

I love the fact that her knee is successfully fixed.

Adventure!

Packed with adventure, action, fantasy, and science fiction, "Destiny Unchosen: Rust & Relics 1.5" hits all the right notes for a very good listening experience. Nola Zandry's performance is excellent and I highly recommend it.

Temi gets to fight!

I love Artemis's character. With all the action and excitement, sucked big time it was a novella. I'm on Thorn Fall now. The scary part is no more books after that. Please write more... Begging here. I'm only purchasing Buroker's and her pen name's works. Fallen Empire was read and listened to so much, stopped counting after 5. It's my medicine for bad books. One thing that hooked me up, was the sense of adventure, the different feelings. One gets a not on the throat with feelings for whatever the character might be going through. The way it's written, it plays as a movie in your head. Perfect and clear! ❤

different from Lindsay's other books

This book has more of a modern edge to it than any other Lindsay Buroker book I've read before. with places on earth being the characters point of origin. oddly enough I've actually lived in Prescott Arizona, which is where the main character lives. it of course has tons of fantasy in it. I just finished her kingdom of stars series, so switching gears from fantasy space opera to earth based fiction is a huge shift. but so far I'm a fan of this series

2 hours, no story

I always look at the length, but not this time. My mistake I suppose, but I feel robbed.

Even more robbed because of the lack of story.

Forgettable and clunky

Maybe this would have worked better for me if I’d heard book 1. This novella drops you right into an other world training session, with Temi and her new magic sword being put through the paces by a Spock-like warrior elf. Unfortunately, there’s zero time spent on dialogue, setting, or character description and the barest discussion of plot. There’s vague references to an off-screen “them” who threaten Temi with beasts that do nothing more than charge onto Temi’s sword.

There appears to be a romance suggested by random, out of nowhere, jokes about her elf coach’s lack of passion and her hiding the red undies she finds in her purse (what was that?). But, given zero time is spent telling us what either of them look like, or giving them personality, or writing any scene that might support chemistry … I have to say this future shipping holds no appeal.
