About this listen

In the thrilling conclusion to the Legacy of Dragons trilogy, ancient weapons of mass destruction lie hidden under the city of Pacta Servanda. Remnants of the Great Guilds and rebellious factions of the Empire want to seize those weapons to allow them to regain control of the world of Dematr. Only Jason, brought by the first ship from Earth since the colony failed, might be able to disarm the threat. But he also might know how to employ those weapons, making him a danger for all sides.

Standing between those threats is Kira of Dematr. But Kira, who inexplicably has been able to manifest Mage powers as well as technical skills, finds herself being consumed by the mental conflicts between those powers and skills. As rogue Mechanics, Mages, and mercenaries attack with every weapon at their disposal, Kira suffers more blackouts and begins to lose her mind. The fate of her world rests on whether she can stay alive and find answers in time to problems that no one else has ever confronted.

My First 4-star to Jack Campbell

This was my least favorite book in this series, and also when compared with the Pillars of Reality. I LOVE Jack Campbell and I LOVE MacLeod Andrews. Seriously amazing talent.

I have the ENTIRE Lost Fleet series, Beyond the Frontier, and all the new side series. LOVE THEM. Jack Campbell is amazing. I just found this book really frustrating at times. Sure Jason is loyal and Kira is great, but then at times they weren't. It descended too far, I think, into the Young Adult (YA) realms of action and relationship development. As an adult, a father and a husband, I was just annoyed at a few moments by how poorly these two were making their decisions! I know, I know, they're young, but I just feel like the plot mechanisms could have taken a different course that was a bit less... ehhhh... reliant on Jason and Kira's youthful-yet-crazily-responsible relationship to further the story.

Love Jack Campbell. I'd rate this as the worst book of his that I've read (like 30 books of his?) and it's still a 4+ out of 5.

MacLeod, you are AWESOME. I don't think I've ever heard a MacLeod Andrews narration that was not a 5 star performance.

THANK YOU BOTH

I like the love story, but drama, and the dragons.

I've enjoyed all three in the series I am looking forward to more. it's a terrific love story, good adventure, intrigue, and a downright good listen

Amazing book - but I still have so many questions!

I really love this series. I feel like the series could've been longer. At the end I wanted to know more. I hope Jack Campbell continues where he left off.

Paced just right

This is the third book in series I found it restful and easy to follow early on you knew that Kara was fighting herself and the manic behavior was a side effect so why didn't she pick up on it sooner? All and all it was a good read.

Different but entertaining

This book really threw me off. The story was your standard Lady Kira until about half way into the book. After nearly another quarter of the book causing some serious annoyance and anxiety to the change of character, it got better. Just to leave another cliff hanger for a book not yet available...

Not the Best, But That's Okay

I started this trilogy with a serious love of the Pillars series, and I ended it still loving the first series better. However, that didn't stop me from enjoying Kira's story very much. This last book was a solid, action-packed book with a great mix of tense danger spaced out with places to catch the breath. It was exasperating and fascinating and more than once I wished her mother was present to talk sense to her. Some old questions were answered, some old story lines put to rest, while other questions arose and have not been answered, leaving the sense of more stories about Dematr to come.

Romantic work of science fantasy

Kierra was a strong wonder woman. And her mother was also strong feminine figure. Altering the story Jason her boyfriend was treated passively aggressively by Kierra. You would think at the end of the story her attitude towards him may have changed because it saved Her life countless times. No, same same. It is not a really predictable story and it has twist And turns to keep you interested. I don’t want to spoil the ending but it has a good ending. ENJOY
