I could not turn this off.

I laughed, I frowned, I sat on the edges of my seat. I learned new information and was totally pleased with this story. Can't wait till five into the next book.

Housekeeper was more than a match

I loved this story. The heroine and hero were perfect for each other.
Mariah left her home in search of independence and freedom. Logan has freedom and family but once he met the housekeeper Mariah, he learned that his life was still incomplete. They verbally sparred and vexed each other until they gave into their passion. These two were definitely stronger together. This story was entertaining with bits of history sprinkled in. The emphasis on family and hard work is a continual theme I’ve noticed in Beverly Jenkins novel.
The narrator was spot on and I can’t wait for book 2.

EXCELLENT STORYTELLING

I've been a fan of Beverly Jenkins for a long time. I love that her books have became audio books where now I can just listen to them. Destiny's Embrace is very good and the narration is great too.

Good book but ...

It’s a really nice hook, but the narrator’s swallowing sounds get in the way a bit. I’ve listened to a lot of books and there has to be a way to swallow saliva more subtly. She’s a good narrator though, so it makes up for the little annoyance.

Nice story, substandard narration

I love historical romance novels. This one is very interesting because it is set in both Philadelphia and California during the 1880s. The characters are a little bit superficial, and a little hard to believe sometimes. The narrator has a pleasant voice but was disappointing. She tries to do a Spanish accent but sounds more Jamaican. She also puts weird emphasis on random parts of sentences, and mispronounces way too many words for a professional narrator.
