Publisher's summary

While DEI has become one of the trendy PR moves companies do to create good publicity, many of them still don’t have a firm grasp on what it actually means.

It goes beyond just hiring a token person of a different race, gender, or age, or posting some slogans on your office walls. It’s not just about having a DEI policy that you have on your website, or an annual training program employees are required to take.

Successful DEI needs to be an all-encompassing culture within the company that is understood and applied by all.

But this requires deep work that many companies often struggle with. That’s where this book can help.

It will help you formulate a plan for creating and implementing truly effective DEI programs and figure out solutions to address DEI issues in your organization.

There is strength in diversity, and your company will only benefit from creating a culture of acceptance and belonging.

A helpful guide for companies and their leaders

It's not a secret anymore that the lack of DEI in companies' culture has been a problem for years. As someone who experienced the consequences of it myself during my career, I was very happy to discover this guide and that the DEI issue is being addressed and the solutions presented in it on a very deep and multifaceted level. I hope this audiobook reaches a wide audience of different businesses and their leaders so that diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workspace become a norm for everyone.

Any workplace or HR manager should listen

I have worked in human resources for over 15 years and have never found such practical information about implementing a DEI program. The background information is helpful for someone new to the topic, but I found the application ideas invaluable. I especially liked learning more about how to establish ERGs and how to create measurable goals to analyze how well the program is doing against the plan.

a great source for business owners and management

In today's work environment fostering a productive work environment that promotes diversity and inclusion is a must. Federal law requires certain standards to ensure all people feel safe and included in the work place. This book will lay the foundation necessary to make sure your work or office space is meeting the requirements of the law.

Timely book everyone should read!

I’m really thankful I got to listen to this book. This topic is so apt in today’s day and age. I learnt many things from this book which would have prevented me from being insensitive and ignorant. The author gave a great introduction to DEI and how to apply it to a workplace. I really like that the author provided many real life examples and stories to show how attempts to remove discrimination have worked or not worked in the past. Although I don’t own a DEI programme at my company, I like the chapter on “Finding Champion” where it empowers anyone to support DEI in the workplace and represent for a certain group you identify with and care for. There is also a DEI checklist included in this audiobook which I think would be super helpful for leaders to make sure there is a fair workplace for their employees. As an employee myself, I would highly recommend this book to my managers.

Great information!

This audiobook was a great listen! DEI is something about of businesses say they practice but this is something much more than hiring a diverse workforce. True DEI is imbedded into all aspects of a company and take constant work to ensure leaders and the overall workplace is safe and inclusive for everyone.

I love that this audiobook ends with a checklist. I think this serves as a great resource for all businesses and people in leadership positions that want to start or continue on their DEI journey. I would definitely recommend this book!

Valuable Resource in Leadership Roles & Businesses

The audiobook proved to be a captivating listen, leaving a lasting impression on the listener. The author astutely observes that while many businesses claim to practice DEI, or diversity, equity, and inclusion, the concept encompasses far more than simply hiring a diverse workforce. The author astutely observes that genuine diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) must permeate every facet of a company and require ongoing effort to ensure that leaders and the workplace as a whole are welcoming and supportive of all individuals. The inclusion of a checklist at the conclusion of this audiobook is a noteworthy and appreciated addition. This work is a valuable resource for individuals in leadership roles and businesses seeking to embark on or advance their journey towards diversity, equity, and inclusion. This book comes highly recommended.
