Publisher's summary

When God says, “Follow me,” do you know how?

If you work in Christian ministry, it’s likely that at some point in your career, God will call you from one church to another. Do you know how to make this transition effectively? Moving can be scary and full of questions: Where do I start the job search process? Which people do I talk with, and what do I send to them? How do I know if my family and I will fit in at a new church? And how do I tell people I’m leaving?

This audiobook is intended to help you answer those questions so that the hiring process goes well. And when the hiring process does go well, a lot of pain can be avoided - for the pastor and the church.

What we pastors need is solid coaching that is theologically informed and practically oriented. We need to know how the gospel empowers us to interview with both humility and confidence. We need anecdotes from real hiring processes, and we need detailed strategies for every step of the way, so we can transition with excellence, protect our families, respect the church, and honor God.

Great practical tool

I truly enjoyed the way the author helped organize and give creative ideas for establishing a connection with a difficult audience. He encouraged and yet was realistic about many of the pitfalls and difficulties that come with trying to find a job in ministry positions. I have personally found that many churches struggle to hire as many are not aware of the need to be seeking help and advice. This offers many great and practical questions to ask to a church or to anticipate being asked of you the candidate. The narrator was good but sometimes he became a bit distracting in some of his inflections. However, overall he did a great job and carried along the material.

A Helpful Guide for Finding a Job in Local Church

Full of wisdom, grace, and helpful advice. I especially loved that the very first chapter was on rooting your identity in Christ and not in a position. Highly recommend!

Worth reading for wise counsel

A very good start towards a theology of the church, work, and ministry for all levels of ministry. Wise and healthy counsel is also included in virtually every chapter. I plan to reread it regularly to help evaluate both our church and my ministry and our practices and treatment of employees and those leaving and coming on staff.

Fantastic resource if you are in ministry period

This is a helpful tool for anyone in ministry. I found ways it was helping in my ministry without looking for a job. Practical ministry advice is given throughout the book. This is well organized and deeply thought through. I have already been able to recommend and use with other people in ministry or looking for ministry positions.
