Ox inherits a farm in the Ozark Hills from his great-uncle. Ox and his wife Judy invite Walt and Maggie to go with them to check it out. Little did they know that they would encounter drug dealers, wildlife poachers, and a religious fanatic that would threaten to spoil their trip.

Also adding to the intrigue, the neighbor who owns the farm next door is insistent on buying Ox’s farm, but why? When Ox refuses to sell, his insistent buyer devises a plan that ultimately places the lives of our heroes in peril.

New rural memories

family, farm-animals, friendship, inheritance, greed, fishing

Walt and Ox used to be partners when Walt was on the police force in the city and they with their wives are still good friends, so when Ox finds out that he's inherited a farm near the river from an old reclusive relative, he asks Walt and his wife to join them to see what it looks like. They find a farmhouse, barn, outhouse, and the old man who was a live in helper and is a great guy. They also find a pair of pushy neighbors who go to great lengths to get Ox and is wife to sell to them. Along the way the pair find other things that make this a kind of busman's holiday, but they also learn how to fish on the river nearby with the help of an old contact of Walt's. Another fun story!
George Kuch seems to know just how to narrate each character and really add to the story.

Trouble Follows Them

I absolutely love this series as they have serious situations with humor. In this book Ox inherits a farm so Walt, Maggie and Judy go with him to check it out. Walt and Ox again run into problems such as drug dealers, poachers, etc., I really liked the character of Luther. Hope more books are coming Highly recommend if you enjoy relevant mysteries with humor. Keep them coming! I was given this free audiobook by author and have voluntarily left this review. Gentleman Farmer, Ox!

Robert Thornhill really impressed me with Down on The Farm. I loved the direction the storyline went with his thought provoking insights. This book features Walt and Ox and their wives. There are some cameo appearances by other characters that are featured in the Lady Justice series, The author is incredible with his imagery, history, and current issues. He also has a knack for adding the right level of humor. George Kuch is wonderful bringing the characters to life. He inflects the right emotions in his voice.

Thornhill's writing is totally addictive

Lady Justice Down on the Farm (Lady Justice, #43), my forty-third enjoyable read/listen from author Robert Thornhill. I loved this book., 3 hrs and 3 minutes of entertaining clean read, filled with puns & one-liners, as always dealing with current social topics. Thornhill's writing is totally addictive, each book in the series seems better than the last as Thornhill continues to up his game. The interesting thing about these books is that the author seamlessly includes wonderful facts & trivia for the reader to learn. Narrator George Kuch again adds greatly to the listening enjoyment with his wide variety of entertaining voices & inflections, over the course of over forty Audible books, Kuch IS Walt Williams! I’ll definitely be reading more from Thornhill! I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I listen to these books with my wife and there are times we laugh so hard it brings tears to our eyes. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Down on the Farm

Such a fun listen with a few bumps along the way. I loved going to the farm with these guys and seeing what kind of trouble they can get themselves into. Such a fun listen as all the previous books in this series are.

A vacation from the usual...

The author provided me with a complimentary copy of this audiobook with no expectation of a review. This book represents a slight departure from the typical escapades we've come to expect from the Lady Justice series. This book revolves around Walt's friend and former partner, Ox Wilson who inherits a farm from a distant relative. Ox and his wife, Judy, and Walt and his wife, Maggie, take a vacation to check out the property. Don't worry though...there's still crime afoot and a dastardly duo to try to cause trouble.

Down on the Farm

Lady Justice Down on the Farm
by Robert Thornhill

Ox inherits a farm and ground in the country. When it came time to go check it out, he and Judy invited Walt and Maggie to come along. What starts off as a nice vacation turns into confrontations with drug dealers, religious zealots, strange neighbors, and wildlife poachers. After a few twists Walt starts putting together the clues to the mystery. Great story from a great author!!!!

PS: I love the personal moments, of the authors family history!!! (This was in the Kindle version.)

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. George Kuch makes me smile when I listen to his narration.
