Publisher's summary

Because sometimes history proves myths are real....

Dr. Jemma Flannigan

There’s nothing like a new dig to get my heart pumping. An endless desert of possibility awaits. Ancient bones. Pottery. Cave art...a dragon? He’s huge. Stark-naked. Covered in scales. And he says I’m his mate. I don’t know what’s more terrifying - the fact he’s an alien, or that his very presence muddles my senses, and his touch leaves me a quaking mess.

Kai

After crash landing on this foreign blue planet thousands of years ago, the last thing I expect is to be struck by the sweet scent of the Nocktam. It beckons to me, rousing me from hibernation, away from the safety of the cave I’ve called home for centuries. Her essence draws me like no other, and I can’t deny the primal need to claim her as mine. She’s beautiful. Vibrant. Spirited. And in grave danger....

These humans have no idea their very existence hangs in the balance of an age-old galactic war. But I'll protect my mate at all costs. Even if it means I have to sacrifice an entire planet.

If you’re a fan of steamy sci-fi romance, dragon shifters from space, and feisty heroines, then listen to the first book of the Drakkonian Wars today!

Narrator’s Performance was Severely Lacking

Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥
Narrator Performance: 🎧🎧🎧

This was my first Ishabelle Torry book but it certainly won’t be the last. DRAGON UNEARTHED was a delightful story. It was a fated mates, insta-lust, Erotic SciFi Romance with dragon shifting aliens. It took place on 🌎 and I absolutely loved how the real life details of the plot were woven with the fictional parts to form a believable story. I thoroughly enjoyed how the author tied science fiction with history. I also found the female MC, Jemma, easily relatable, with her jerkoff ex-husband.

I do have to admit that there was this one thing that drove me up the wall about this book. It’s small but man did it seriously bug me. Jemma is a doctor. She has a PhD. However all throughout the book there was this one antagonistic character who would refer to her as Miss instead of Dr. Not once did she snap at him over it. Well, that’s not quite true. There was one time where the man said “Mrs.” and she snapped back “It’s Miss” because her ex was standing there. I get what was behind her saying that (in the author’s mind) but #1 it wasn’t correct, #2 I can’t believe that anyone would discount/ignore all their education or proper title and #3 that whole scene was screwed up anyways in the audiobook because the narrator misspoke and said “Miss” instead of “Mrs.”

Erica Hilliard was the narrator for this book. While her voice is great and she has wonderful pacing I didn’t really enjoy her performance. When bringing to life a book written in the first person with accounts from both the male and female main characters a narrator needs, at minimum, two different voices. This is to differentiate between the characters. Hilliard did not do that. That means that her performance was severely lacking IMO.

It’s the narrator

This seems like it would be a good story, actually it starts out as a good story. But, the narrator Erica Hilliard sounds OK for the female but her voice never changes for the other characters. I find myself having to listen again to understand who’s conversation I’m hearing

Who's talking?

it would be nice if the narrator could differentiate her voice between the male and female leads. I listen to this while I'm doing other things and I was constantly backing up to try to figure out who was talking. there are narrators out there who can do both male and female voices-please find one.

Great Read, Steamy Scenes.

I listened to this book after it was recommended to me by a friend. I love how the author bridged true US historical events with her fictional story. It completely made sense to me. SciFi and Steamy Romance just what a Nerdy Girl needs. The characters were well done in my opinion and the female lead reminds me of a girl I once knew. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Kept me engaged

An interesting story that kept me reading or rather listening. There were a few points that left me a little confused but overall I enjoyed it. My one problem with the narrator was that she did not change between the male and female voices. The two main characters, Jemma and Kai, were written in first person so sometimes I wasn’t sure (or I forgot) which “I” was speaking because the voices didn’t change.

Waiting for the second book!

Great book. Where's book 2? Yes, that's what's missing Book 2! Narrator was spot on.

Realistic review 👌🏼

first I want to say that I love a good romance novel or a Sci-Fi romance novel. The story was decent and had some good action filled moments as well as passionate ones. I have an issue with the beginning of book, the two characters main characters go from absolute strangers to acting as if they've been a couple for a few weeks. No woman in this type of situation (realistic or sci-fi version) would ever cave to a stranger so quickly.
That aside, I know they tell us to be polite on here in regards to authors and narrators..
It should really be noted that the narrator is not the right fit for this sci-fi Romance. The only time she actually put effort forward was the part of the story is when she covered her mouth to mimic what was happening to the character.

Pretty corny insta-romance

The basic concept of the story is decent but it's just so corny. Why does everyone wink in this book? Some of the actions of the character's don't make sense. I mean after Jemma's ex steals her 'lifetime work', she somehow 'doesn't' think to check that he's not signed into her new contract? Not very believable. When the author introduced Area 51 to the storyline I was done and couldn't wait to finish the book. As for the narration it really wasn't the best, rather flat with no real attempt to differentiate between the male and female character's.

I was given this book for free of my own choosing and voluntarily left this review.

Bad narration ruins another great story!

Once again a great story was ruined by a bad narrator. I really enjoyed the ebook version of this story, so I thought I would give the audiobook a try. I made the mistake of buying the audiobook before listening to even the audio sample. The narrator sounds like she is reading a script, but she reads it in a flat almost monotone voice with barely any inflection. Even worse is that it sounds like she is rushing through the story as fast as she can. You can't even tell when a character is talking versus any background action or inner dialog.

I tried but I could not even finish the 2nd chapter it was so bad. Will be returning this book and will be sticking with the ebooks for this series. If you manage to finish this audiobook, I suggest you do the same.
