About this listen

Not every alien is an enemy, even if he kidnaps you....

Calista is happy with her life of scientific research. She doesn't need love, she has her books, her friends, and her work. Things are fine until her ship is attacked by space pirates and crash lands on a desert planet with heat so intense she and her friends can't survive without help.

Ladon is a Zmaj warrior resigned to a life alone, who only desires to protect his treasures. His hopes for a mate faded long ago, yet when he meets Calista something stirs. It takes only one look to know that she belongs to him. He's been alone for so long, but she is the ultimate treasure and he will protect her. Now there's only the small problem of her living long enough to understand.

A devastated planet, a mysterious history, space pirates, and threats environmental and alien beset them on all sides. The sexy Zmaj warrior will have to battle the planet's ultimate threat in an epic effort to obtain the one thing he knows Calista needs to survive.

But will the other humans accept this huge and alien-looking dragon warrior? Or will they find him just as big a threat as the rest of the red planet? The future of both their races depends on it.

Contains mature themes.

A good tale

The main female lead was in a I must be detached and analytical mood long enough for me to get tired of it and be afraid the story would be ruined but it didn’t happen. I have already bought the next book and am looking forward to it

Love the story..but

I have never been more annoyed with a female lead in my life! I also have never yelled at an audiobook more in my life! LOL it's a good series you just have to get past I'll call it annoyances and it may not be as annoying to some as it is to me but I still recommend the series

Talk about culture shock

Ladon is a resident of the planet, he’s also a dragon man. Calista was in a generational colony space ship 🚀 on route to a planet that won’t be reached for a couple of generations. They were attacked by space pirates and crashed on Ladon’s world 🗺️called Tajss. The few survivors are saved by the lovers and taken to his deserted city. They must all join together to survive in this new 🆕 home. Good narrator, world building, and author. It’s not the same old story about humans being kidnapped by aliens 👽.

Nailed it!

The narrator's nailed it! Loved it. Story line was great. Only thing I did not like is that they seemed to drag out all the attacks and I would have liked to hear more city time. Other than that it was a cute story with steamy sex scenes!!

Calista & Landon.

A fun new sexy alien romance where not everyone was kidnapped into slavery. Of course it has a lot of the same troupes as all alien romances, but it seems like it might be a good start to a new series. I’m always looking for another Ruby Dixon’s IPB series, this is not it, but still a decent listen, I will try the next one to see how it goes. I really like the female narrator, the male narrator is good, but the sound is a lot softer, and I have to turn up the volume when he talks.

Ok if you like Alien Romances

Good concept, but with a lot of inconsistencies with primary characters. For all it’s frustrations, I’ve listened to this book several times before writing a review. I even bought the book. Ladon was completely likeable. Calista was likeable when she used her intelligence; but TSTL too many times. It’s as if the authors had two different heroines, two different characters in mind. I was beyond disgusted with how Calista let Gershon walk all over her, and her denial of her relationship with Ladon.
I liked the concept of the crash on the alien planet, even with the parallels to Dune. I liked the description of the Zmaj, even though this is the desert version of Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians.
I did like the male/female narrator combo in this production.

Pleasantly surprising

There are a lot of ideas in this book that clearly come from other sources, it’s easy enough to see the similarities between Epi and Spice from Dune. But despite, or maybe because of, this and the writers ability to develop characters I was pleasantly surprised and look forward to the next books.

Liked the love story

Quick story, enjoyed it was a fast read. Don’t like how much of the female lead got bullying by the other humans. Some idiot actually shoved her, if they removed the other humans altogether I wouldn’t have mined since they were extra annoying.

Has promise but also issues

thankfully this was Audible escape so it was almost free. I loved the premise of the story and it was exciting with a nice HEA. However.... I would love to take the word "yeah" away from the writer. I felt like I was listening to a bunch of junior high school kids trying to have a conversation. The world building wasn't great. You get some backstory but almost no feel for daily life. I think I got spoiled by Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarians and this just wasn't as good.

The female narrator was not to my liking. For emotion, she used either a raised voice or long pauses, felt overdramatic and unrealistic. I like it better when they have voice actors do narration as they truly emit the needed emotions while also making the separate voices really sound like different people. I will go to the second book as it's also included in Audible Escape. Maybe it will get better.

Authentic Alien world, Romance & Adventure

One of my favourite alien romance series, that clearly differs from the usual plots floating around. Great world building with a unique non human psychological profile of the alien species, that develops throughout the series. Lots of unexpected plots with the storyline that keeps you on the edge. Great Romance and steamy sex too. Fluent story flow and awesome double narration.
