Publisher's summary

In Jack the Giant-Killer, where magical creatures carry on a secret existence in the streets and parks of modern Ottawa, Jacky Rowan once slew giants. In this thrilling sequel, she is tricked and then enslaved by a master of vicious Unseelie creatures.

This cruel thief is bent on stealing his very sustenance—not only from Jacky—but from all of the Seelie faerie court. Only the Moon herself and a handsome young fiddler, unaware of Faerie and the power of his music, have the magic to set Jacky free.

Great dive into Fairies

Great take on the Jack legend. De Lint has an endless knowledge of lore. He leaves an awesome tale. The narrator was really good also.

great story, poor narrator

Mine is only a subjective view, bur after 500 audio books, this narration is the worst that I have heard. I read this book when it cam out, and then twice more when paired with "Jack the Giant Killer' in "Jack of Kinrowan." I loved the books each time, and I just finished "Jack the Giant Killer" read by a robovoice on Kindle. But Meskimen engaged me not a bit. Much as I love de Lint's characters, the reading here leached all the characterization traits from the book for me. A subjective opinion to be sure, but Meskimen made me close down this book when I reached the 20 minute point in each reading. I breezed through the robovoice in the first work. I recommend the book - I have done so many times - but I won't encourage anyone to get the Audible version.

Excellent!

I always appreciate a Charles DeLint book. I think I’ve read all of them overtime. Going back and listening to them is a treat! I value your imagination and your determination to produce such wonderful work that removes my mind from the troubles of the day. Narration was terrific.

Not my favorite de Lint

Narration was bad, and production was worse. Beyond that, just didn't hold my interest. Not at all up to the Newford books, or Kate Reading's performance.
