About this listen

Ryker only has one goal in his life right now: Turn a certain adventuring guild into a flaming wreck while dancing merrily through the smoldering ruins. All for the chance to get back at a handful of people.

It isn’t as if they didn’t deserve it either.

They had driven him from his home. Chased him physically from the very guild house itself. All the way to the gates of the city.

Simply because he wasn’t as strong as they expected him to be.

As strong as he’d expected himself to be.

He’d returned to the city the next day and left with his means for revenge. Something he’d hidden away and told no one about when he found it in one of his few Dungeon Dives.

An inactive Dungeon Core.

A crystal the size of a fist with a soul inside. One that could create anything from mana it wanted to. From monsters and complex cave systems to gold coins.

Years spent in planning, and unfortunately farming, as he waited. Now it felt like his moment was finally here.

The Dungeon Core had been acting strange lately. As if it were finally… coming to life.

Watching over the crystal like a hawk for this very event, Ryker impatiently waits. Any day now, it'd start.

And he could set about taking his vengeance.

Starting with ripping the soul of the dungeon out.

Warning and minor spoiler: This novel contains graphic violence, undefined relationships/partial harem, unconventional opinions/beliefs, forced political marriage (and consummation), and a hero who is as tactful as a dog at a cat show. Listen at your own risk.

Blood, Vengeance, and city building

If your a fan of litrpg series like "The land" and/or are also a fan of the dungeon born, dungeon town, etc. Then I would suggest you add this one to your library. With the main character bent on getting his vengeance for the one that had wronged him to his fairy companion with her own devilish plan is entertaining and runs smoothly with the wider story. So if your slightly inserted then pick up this book you won't be disappointed.
p.s. There's a bit of a harem situation in the book so it gets a little steamy at parts so a headset might be useful. Probably a 4/10 steamy-ness you have been warned.

Dungeons, magic, and women are all you need.

Another great story with very engaging world building and mechanics that kept me interested throughout the story. I particularly enjoyed the ongoing political struggle that goes on in the background while the main character tries his best to go about his plans for revenge.

Good book

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this. Story was finally and vengeful. I couldn't give it it's final star because there was a bit too much senseless sex.

Read Otherlife first, definitely worth it

really good 😸 I happened across the 2nd and 3rd trilogy in the series before I figured out that this one was before it and honestly I'm kind of a hard critic when it comes to LIT RPG books but this one is pretty good. This book and this honestly this entire series does credit to the litRPG genre

Definitely entertaining

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but the author has some ideas that are on point, but others that are just overly dramatic. Why does the MC get so mad so easily and resort to murderous thoughts? In a joking scenario it would be funny, but the way the author and narrator portray it seems so… intense and unsatisfying. I think both need to lighten up a little and narrator definitely needs to tone down the level of aggression portrayed from the MC, because it seems he’s not 100% mad at all the times the narrator makes it seem. A slight adjustment in tone would do wonders. Maybe I’m just wrong and the MC is just an awful person. Who knows. I’ll probably pick up the next booK in the series to see if the good keeps shining through.

what you need to know before starting

the trilogies by this author are part of a connected universe and not just under this name but his other pen name. The difference between the two is that those trilogies under this name fade2black and under the other do not. the starting trilogy is the other life books. after that it goes back and forth between pen names starting with the second Trilogy wild waste and then bounce is over to super sale. all the narrator's for all of them including this one do a fantastic job. Super sale has a narrator change after the first book but the one that comes in legitimately has done the best job at matching the previous narrator that I've ever seen. The stories are good but they definitely follow a pattern. The first book is all about the characters of their own specific trilogy. Then there's a light cross over in the second book and a significant cross over in the final act that pushes the background narrative forward.

great story, not my favorite voice

Over all I enjoyed the book. good story, Interesting characters but the voice actor did not match the main character. The actor did the female voices perfectly but Ryker was just off...
