Nixon or Chase?

Oh, the tragedy of a love triangle. It was quite intense and I truly dig how the author had a good balance of action, suspense and romance! Nixon or Chase? I couldn’t make up my mind...Overall, I started it fell in love with Chase....I fell in love of the story plot. I am not into this type of story plot but I admire Rachel Van dyken writing to one extreme to another (from Rom-Com to Drama to action). She’s such a great writer!!!!

Story was interesting

The story continues the storyline that began with Elite and continued with Enforce. The characters are engaging and there are twists and drama. I enjoyed the story.

But the narration was disappointing. I listened to this book after listening to Enforce with four different narrators, one for each character. I have listened to this narrator before and liked his narration. But he didn’t do much to differentiate between characters in this book.

I'm hooked!

I don't know why it took me so long to read this series. I love a great Mafia read, and I love Rachel Van Dyken's writing, so I kind of figured I was missing out, and I most definitely was missing out. I'm going to get sucked into this series with no way out. ; ) It is fast-paced and intense and will keep you on the edge of your seat. The narrators did a great job.

Better as a book

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I really liked the book (I had read it previously) but the narrator is not good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Elect?

The story is great-a bit romeo and juliet with a new adult setting!

Would you be willing to try another one of Douglas Berger’s performances?

most likely not.

Was Elect worth the listening time?

I loved the story. If I didn't know I loved the book, I don't know I would have stuck with the narrator.

Most monotonous love triangle - weakest girl ever!

This novel last eight hours and seven minutes, about 8 hours too long. The plot of the book is about a love triangle between Nixon and Chase who both have a thing for Traci all set in the back drop of the mafia controlled high school. I have to say, I have never read a weaker characterization of the girl, Traci, in any novel of this genre ever! The author presented her as a simpering, co-dependent, fragile china doll, who can't barely even think let alone sort out a relationship. The two men didn't fair much better in terms of the authors depth other than 'I Love You' no but wait, 'I love you more'. 'No you take her" lines. after a half hour such drivel and then we have seven and half hours more to go. The plot was like watching a ping-pong match between two amateurs only intent on returning each others volley -- the white ping-pong ball being the girl. Back and forth over the net again and again with the same choices the same dialog - over, and, over, and over, and over ... You get my drift. I kept waiting, hoping -- but no joy!

The only bright spot was at the very, very end where a sub-character woman steps up and makes it more interesting (see my seven minutes comment). If the next book is about her, maybe you should give it a read. But for this book, it is a define NO! Don't bother. Find someone who listed or read it and let them tell you about it -- it will save a lot of time.

Not happy. Too negative for my tastes and comfort level. I liked some of her other stories.

Could not finish. Too dark and violent for me. I preferred the super natural tales.
