About this listen
Are you a spiritual person? A mature Christian? The apostles do not think that you are unless you have mastered the basic principles of the oracles of God. The writer of the book of Hebrews wanted to present some exciting thoughts about Jesus. He wanted to start exploring some heady insights about the work of Messiah, but he felt frustrated because people seemed unprepared for these deeper, spiritual lessons. He wanted to go deep, but people were still shallow. They did not have the basics down. He wrote, "It is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food" (Hebrews 5:11-12). In Elementary Principles, D. Thomas Lancaster takes listeners back to first-century Messianic Judaism to explore what he calls "an apostolic catechism", the foundational basics of discipleship to Jesus of Nazareth. Think you know it all already? Get ready to rethink your religion. This book of "basics" challenges common Christian assumptions while laying out clear, biblical definitions for all followers of Jesus. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food. (Hebrews 5:11-12)

Story
Historians, scholars, and theologians agree that first-century Christianity was a sect of Judaism, but where does that information place first-century Gentile Christians? What did it mean to be a Gentile who practiced Judaism in the days of the apostles? These are not just academic questions; they are at the heart of today's growing Messianic Jewish movement. How do non-Jews engage in the modern Messianic Jewish revival?

Story
Why don't Christians in the church today keep the biblical sabbath? Was the observance of the seventh-day sabbath done away with, canceled, changed, replaced, fulfilled, made obsolete, suppressed, hijacked, or simply forgotten? Even if you already know the answers, you'll want to listen to this book. From Sabbath to Sabbath approaches the question of the sabbath from a completely new messianic Jewish perspective.

Story
Prayer is simply talking with God. Nonetheless, the grown men who followed Jesus felt as if they had something yet to learn. As true disciples, they wanted to pray just as their Rabbi did. In ancient Judaism, disciples sought not only to learn their master's teachings and interpretations; they endeavored to imitate their rabbi in every detail. Rabbi Yeshua taught, A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher (Luke 6:40). What does prayer look like in a Jewish context? How did Jesus pray?

Story
Yeshua Matters is the story of a pastor who discovers that Jesus Christ was not just a Jewish person, but a practicing Jew, a teacher of Judaism - a rabbi, known during his earthly ministry as Rabbi Yeshua of Nazareth. Yet despite this emerging scholarly consensus, Jesus has lost his Jewishness in the collective heart and mind of the church. We simply don't imagine, interpret, or follow him as a part of the broader tapestry of Jewish life and history.

Story
The Epistle of James says that anyone who considers him - or herself to be religious yet does not tame his tongue is self deceived. James says that such a person's religion is worthless. On the other hand, James refers to the person who tames his or her tongue as a perfect person. That's a stark contrast. There's a big difference between being a self-deceived person engaging in worthless religious practice, and being perfect or complete. If we take these words of the Bible seriously, we need to start taking our own words far more seriously then we normally do.

Story
Contemporary evangelicals have built a 'salvation culture' but not a 'gospel culture.' Evangelicals have reduced the gospel to the message of personal salvation. This book makes a plea for us to recover the old gospel as that which is still new and still fresh. The book stands on four arguments: that the gospel is defined by the apostles in 1 Corinthians 15 as the completion of the Story of Israel in the saving Story of Jesus; that the gospel is found in the Four Gospels; that the gospel was preached by Jesus; and that the sermons in the Book of Acts are the best example of gospeling in the New Testament.

The Jewish Gospel of John is not, by any standard, another book on Jesus of Nazareth written from a Jewish perspective. It is an invitation to the listener to put aside their traditional understanding of the Gospel of John and to replace it with another one more faithful to the original text perspective. The Jesus that will emerge will provoke you to rethink most of what you knew about this gospel.

Story
For years, Christians have been asking, "If you died tonight, do you know where you would go?" It turns out that many believers have been giving the wrong answer. It is not heaven. Wright outlines the present confusion about a Christian's future hope and shows how it is deeply intertwined with how we live today. Wright asserts that Christianity's most distinctive idea is bodily resurrection, and provides a magisterial defense for a literal resurrection of Jesus. Wright then explores our expectation of "new heavens and a new earth".

Story
Once upon a time there was a version of our faith that was practically...irresistible. But that was then. Today we preach, teach, write, and communicate as if nothing has changed. As if “The Bible says it” still settles it. It’s time to hit pause on much of what we’re doing and consider the faith modeled by our first-century brothers and sisters who had no official Bible, no status, and humanly speaking, little chance of survival. What did they know that we don’t? What made their faith so compelling, so defensible, so irresistible? Buckle up...you’re about to find out.

In an era in which many Christians consider Jesus a beloved but remote savior, Willard argues compellingly for the relevance of God to every aspect of our existence. Masterfully capturing the central insights of Christ's teachings in a fresh way for today's seekers, he helps us to explore a revolutionary way to experience God by knowing him as an essential part of the here and now, rather than only as part of the hereafter.

Are demons real? Are they red creatures with goatees holding pitchforks and sitting on people's shoulders while whispering bad things? Did a third of the angels really rebel with Satan? Are demons and "principalities and powers" just terms for the same entities, or are they different members of the kingdom of darkness? Is the world a chaotic mess because of what happened in Eden, or is there more to the story of evil? In Demons, Michael Heiser debunks popular presuppositions about the very real powers of darkness.

Many Christians struggle to understand the Book of Revelation. “The end times.” “The apocalypse.” “The day of judgment.” These terms are both fascinating and frightening – but what do they really mean? Drawing from decades of study, Dr. Jeremiah explains every key sign of the approaching apocalypse and what it means for you, including international, cultural, heavenly, tribulation, and end signs. With his engaging writing style and clear analysis of how current world events were foretold in the Bible, The Book of Signs is an encouraging guide to the Book of Revelation.

Most people - even people of faith - do not understand how the Bible fits together. Too many Christians accept half an inheritance, content to embrace merely the New Testament, while Jewish people may often experience the same by embracing only the Old Testament. But God has an intricate plan and purpose for both the Old and the New. In Mysteries of the Messiah, Rabbi Jason Sobel reveals the many connections in Scripture hidden in plain sight. Known for his emphatic declaration “but there’s more!” he guides us in seeing the passion and purpose of the Messiah.

Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
Just before Christmas in 1843, a debt-ridden and dispirited Charles Dickens wrote a small book he hoped would keep his creditors at bay. His publisher turned it down, so Dickens used what little money he had to put out A Christmas Carol himself. He worried it might be the end of his career as a novelist. The book immediately caused a sensation. And it breathed new life into a holiday that had fallen into disfavor, undermined by lingering Puritanism and the cold modernity of the Industrial Revolution.

Great book to help understand Messiah Jesus (Yeshua)
This book was a great resource and asset in understanding what being a Disciple of Jesus (Yeshua) means. Pastor Lancaster lays out a compelling argument that is rooted in history and context.

Thought-provoking book! It challenged my thinking
I have listened to this book many times. It challenged my thinking on so many levels, especially in regards to the gospel. He came across rather strong and direct in this book. I like that because I wasn't left guessing where he stood on things, and I was in a place where I was ready to hear it. I would recommend this book, but I would not start by giving this book to my family. I would give them Children of the Light, then Restoration, and then this book. That is the order in which I read them. I am not sure I would have been ready to hear what this book had to say before reading Children of the Light and Restoration. I also first attended Torah Clubs before reading this book, which helped me see God's love all throughout the Hebrew Scriptures and, I believe, helped prepare me for this book.

refreshing and encouraging!
My heart so needed this and was so refreshed and encouraged by it! I only wish I had access to this resource 28 years ago when I started this journey. Highly recommend wether you are new to the faith or have been a believer for a long time and need a refresher on the elementary principles. The part about the Resurrection was really empowering as I have been clinging to the Ressurection after losing a niece and nephew and 3 babies of my own. These principles are something every believer should be familiar with and confident in.

Not just another evangelical book
It makes you think. The author talks about 6 elementary principles with different definitions than what I grew up with in church and college. It's a good read.

Excellent!!! The right place to begin!
Surely the right place to begin is the beginning! Mr. Lancaster does a superb job of guiding the reader through the why'd and wherefore's of these crucial beginning steps in the life of faith in the Creator. Much is said today about; "Back to Basics" ... well, here it is for the life of faith!
