About this listen
Eight-year-old Elsie Dinsmore is enjoying a blissful Christmas holiday season with her family and friends when a crisis arises that threatens life as she knows it. She believes that obeying a request her father has made would violate her conscience, and she must refuse him. He, in turn, believes Elsie is being willful and disobedient, and he fails to see her refusal as a matter of her deep, abiding faith in God.
Elsie clings to the promise that her heavenly Father will never leave her nor forsake her as, one by one, all the things she holds dear are taken from her, including even her father's presence. The turmoil brought on by this conflict contributes to a life-threatening illness for Elsie and a life-changing crisis for her father. Meanwhile, her faith is tested to the limits.

perfect except for one thing. for a Christian book
I enjoyed most of the books. There however some moments where I feel that the family n friends of this sweet God fearing child are most of the time very unfairly cruel to the point that it almost seems unfathomable.

Pleased
I enjoyed this story. I liked the readers voice and use of it to make the characters different. I especially liked the amount of scripture used to teach us how to love and obey God.

Great Story
The story of Elsie continues right where book one leaves off. Again, the story is fantastic, however, the narrator's vocal characterizations aren't as powerful as in the previous book (different narrator). Still a great story overall. I highly recommend it!

Such a good book for a girl who loves God.
I love this book and the first one so much too . A very good book for a girl who loves God. I dislike that somebody always comment that they don’t like the first book because it is too cruel on Elsie or that the book was Christian.I recommend this book for every girl (even some that aren’t Christians to encourage them to Christ.

9 hours of child abuse to a perfect angel
Elsie gets no break from her dad. He gets onto her for the littlest thing and abuses her for months right after Arthur has been kicked out of Roselands for torturing her. Still a little angel to a ridiculous degree, her actions are always predictable, there is no excitement to the story and things keep getting worse and worse until Elsie is basically in Solitary Confinement. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME
