About this listen

From the author of USA Today bestseller Dragonfall comes the final book in a lush and inventive fantasy duology with a slow-burn romance, in which long-banished dragons, revered as gods, return to the mortal realm—perfect for your next book club!

Arcady faces their greatest heist yet: posing as a noble student at the arcane University of Vatra. When the University announces the reinstatement of archaic trials of magic, the ever-penniless Arcady seizes the chance. If they win, they not only prove their worth, but the scholarship will give them more time to unlock secrets and reveal, once and for all, that their grandsire was not the Plaguebringer. Yet grief still leaves Arcady broken, and when they close their eyes, they dream of a certain dragon.

Everen, once the hope of dragons, is now hated by his kind. When he is eventually released from his prison, the Queen is clear: while he may help protect the island from wraith attacks, he is no longer a prince of the realm. As he struggles to find his place in Vere Celene, visions of the past and future, and tantalizing glimpses of Arcady still haunt him. If he steers the wrong path through fate's storm, he may never be able to create a future where both humans and dragons live in harmony.

Arcady soon realizes that to survive the rising threats from both their old life and their new one, they must use every trick at their disposal—even magic stolen from a dragon they thought dead. And as time runs out before an ancient danger awakens, Everen must fight his way back to Arcady, earn their forgiveness, and learn what it truly means to be an Emberclaw.

SO GOOD

I loved the first one and was eager to read the sequel. I am often disappointed by sequels but not this time!! This held up to the same level of enjoyment that I had with the first. Just such a fun story, endearing characters and an interesting world. I really like both of the actors, specifically Everen's as the accent makes me feel so immersed. I hope for more, but am also pleasantly happy with how this ended. Definitely a series that I'll revisit in the future for a reread. <3

Love this book, world, and these characters!

Great narration for both books and great world building by LR Lam. Love this series and hope enough people support it for more books to be written.

Queer fanTASTY

Ooh. Spicier than Dragonfall. :D

Spoilers

It was so interesting seeing the magical school, them dreaming naughty things while bonded across realms, them finding their way back to each other, and learning more about the villain and what happened back in the day.

Loved it. Ate it up. No complaints.

Now thats a wild ride

I loved the first book and was holding my breath until I got the second one. I like the unique magic system and the relationship with dragons. It did remind me of a few other drgon books, I dont care much for this but it didn't break the story for me. The characters feel more solid in this one which is great, made the story more personal. The romance was great in my opinion. Ill recommend for those who love dragons.

The much needed closure for the first book!

Honestly I love these books so much I can’t stop Re listening 😭 LR Lam has a writing style that’s immersive and so incredible it’s addictive and the stories are woven immaculately.
I want there to be a series of books about the world especially with Arcady and Evren after the ending of this one!
