This is more for a younger audience.

I actually really liked this book. I think this is do to the fact that the author moves quite quickly and the book is not really discriptive, which I did not mind. This might also appeal to a younger audience that love action adventure and it has a happy ending.
Somethings in the story I found really hard to believe but it is a story and anything can happen in it and I believe it was intended for a much younger audience, that is not to say that adults will not like it. I was surprised about the ending but also pleased that the author ended it this way, this shows that the girl is mature in some ways and child like in others. I really liked her. would love a story about her when she is older. It would be interesting to see what other adventure she lands herself in.

I would highly recommend this book to all since it is a clean read.
I thought the narrator did a good job in voicing the characters.

A breakthrough for my son

This was EXCELLENT. The story is just the kind I always wanted to listen to when I was a child, with a quaint cottage in the farmland of a beautiful kingdom with a just, kind king, and a young girl who goes on an adventure (with dwarves!) through a dark forest. The mood and atmosphere simply cannot be beat.

The best part, though, is that I listened with my son, who is 7 years old and has autism. Now, I have tried and tried to get my son involved in audiobooks for ages now, for therapeutic reasons (it is beneficial to train his brain to listen to words that are being spoken and translate them to ideas, and also to engage with imaginary worlds), but he always has a hard time focusing and staying involved in the story. We do read print books, but somehow with the audiobook format is different for him, perhaps because it is intangible.

But with this book, for the first time, he listened all the way through! He just enjoyed the story so much that it finally sort of "clicked" for him. We did about a half an hour per evening, and he was always excited for the next session. It has been a breakthrough for us. Now he is listening to audiobooks and becoming engaged with the characters all the time!

I just cannot say enough wonderful things about this book. It will remain a cherished favorite for my family forever. Thank you.

P.S. The narration is excellent. Also, despite some complaints, the production quality is not bad. There is a bit of air noise in the background, but if my son can get used to it and not be bothered in the slightest, I think anyone can. Please don't let it discourage you from this wonderful book.

Great Story and Refreshing Break

Lately I've been listening to long complex books with a lot of drama, betrayal and not always a happy ending, so this is a refreshing break. It's short, but it's a good story with strong feelings and a happy ending. It might be intended for a younger audience, but it is still a pleasant listen. There were some production problems in the recording quality, but it was a minor thing. Recommended. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Emily, A Sweet Heroine

3.5 stars

I enjoyed listening to the talented Daniel Nicolai narrate this youthful adventure. As noted in another review, audio quality isn’t excellent, but it is above average.

This was a gentle adventure story most youth would enjoy. Vocabulary and pace was consistent for the implied age group.

Great ya book

The worst I can say is the narrator sounds like he is talking into a tin can. The story itself is fine for a young adult. Would think middle school. The story line is good and again like a story with the girl as a strong person willing to give all. Narrator did good job just did not care for the echo.
