Publisher's summary

Fourteen-year-old Emily Adams has special powers she doesn't want, a spiteful aunt she can't escape, and a primeval legacy she knows nothing about. But when an otherworldly being materializes, Emily discovers the true purpose of her magical blood and of the danger that threatens to annihilate her world.

Dormant for over a thousand years, an ancient evil has arisen. This time, it will destroy anyone - or anything - that stands in its way.

With her two best friends by her side, Emily risks everything and embarks on a dangerous journey to Ireland and beyond, where she unlocks the secrets of her Celtic ancestors. As the hour of world annihilation draws near, the fate of her friends, her family, and her world lies in her hands.

Can a teenage girl without hero credentials save the world? And will Emily find the courage to face her true self in Emily's House?

Celtic Ancestors!

This is the first thing that I have ever listened to that author Natalie Wright has written. I wasn't quite sure if I would like this story but as I continued listening I knew this was my kind of story. I don't like giving too much detail away about the story so I tend to just tell you what I think of the author and narrator. I hate to read a review that gives the story away so I do my best to not do that. Emily's House is packed with adventure, humor, suspense, some magic, and twists and turns along the way. This story has it all and it will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Natalie makes the characters seem real and it was easy to connect to each character. A great and very enjoyable story that I highly recommend you either read or listen, whichever you prefer as long as you give the story a try. I can guarantee you won't regret it, I know I didn't. I think what really caught my attention was the introduction of Hindergog.

Chloe Golden did a great job with her narration of Emily's House. I really loved her different accents and voices. I especially liked her voice for Hindergog but wow, she did a fantastic job with all her voices. I even found the male voices were done extremely well. I didn't have any trouble identifying each/every character throughout the story. She did a wonderful job bringing this story to life. I loved being able to close my eyes and feel as if I was there. This story was written perfectly and I found myself engrossed in the narration. I highly recommend you give this story a listen if you haven't done so yet.

Enjoyable Story for Young and Old Listeners!

Narration - Chloe Golden - Pretty Good!
When it started, I wasn't too sure about it, but as the book went along, her voice was really perfect for this title - and her voice for Madame Wong Crr-ack-ed me up! Loved it!

The book itself is cute. I would say that this is geared more towards young readers, but I still enjoyed it. It's a little paranormal, magic-y tale with three 14 year old kids heading on a quest that takes them to Ireland. It's a little hard to believe three kids could get themselves to Europe without adult assistance/supervision, but hey, it's fiction, so I'll roll with it.

Emily comes to find out she's from a long line of special people that have some pretty impressive powers and a good part of her quest is learning what her abilities are and how to control them. This part was a throw back to Karate Kid! Only instead of paint the fence, it was chop the wood! There's a lot of action and suspense and a whole lot of details in this fantasy world and I enjoyed it. Definitely want to listen to the next in the series.

Book was just okay

BOOK REVIEW.....
It was just an okay story. I think the author did a good job developing the characters and creating an interesting world. But over all I just found the story to be okay.

AUDIO REVIEW......
I found the narrator to be good at reading the book as well as giving the characters life and voice.

Great young adult book

For a book centered on 14 year olds it is well told and doesn't put off an adult listener. Emily is a likable and learns to deal with hard life lessons while on her quest.
