Liked It

I had not heard of emotional intelligence until recently. So I have learned a lot so far--though I have not finished the book yet. I hope to learn what my own EQ is--and if it is possible to improve it. I know it needs improving.

Emotional Intelligence

Listened to through a few chapters I like how to emotionally balance yourself at the workplace. Sometimes it gets boring but we need to switch back and forth to get complete gist of it

Excellent Book

Excellent book. I read it for my seminary class. I was not enjoying the early chapters on the anatomy of the brain; that's just not my wheelhouse. But the sociological and psychological stuff was profound.

The book is not the easiest to understand

The book is not the easiest to understand. It is long and highly complex. However, that is no reason not to read the book. There is a wonderful insight into why we do the things we do. It is certainly helpful to understand how and why our emotional brain can hijack our rational brain. We need to bring our feelings into our conscious awareness.

Enjoying It

I haven’t gotten too far through the book but I am enjoying it. The physiology does get a little tedious at times, but I think it’s worth it to get the whole picture. The author suggests skipping it if the reader wants to get to the crux of the subject matter.

Recommended

This book came highly recommended by my therapist when my husband and I ran into a very difficult situation in our marriage. I recommend that everyone read this book at least once in their life. It is packed full of very useful information that we all need to have.
