Publisher's summary
There's betrayal, and then there's my father handing me over to the vampires he tried to steal from. The same vampires who broke my heart.
I spent my life buried in books about magical artifacts. Their powers are shrouded in the mystery I crave to unveil. When my father tells me I can see dozens of them in person, I go for it.
Too bad he didn't warn me the collection belongs to Eric, the lead singer of Empusa rock band and the man I never wanted to see again. Dad didn't mention that he tried to steal the copper flower rumored to hold the key to immortality. Or that the four vampire rock stars don't intend to let me go. Ever.
Eric, Liam, James, and Gabe are hot as sin, and their music makes my toes curl, but these rock stars aren’t as they appear. They are vampires who go out of their way to make my life a living hell. If only they’d tell me what I’ve done to deserve this treatment.
When I learn the painful secret hiding behind their masks, my question is answered.
Turns out, they have every right to hate me.
A secret society of paranormal rock stars hiding in plain sight? Ridiculous.
They're the biggest rock stars in the world. But they're also something else entirely. Vampires, werewolves, witches, and more. They've managed to keep their identities hidden for centuries, but with the label requiring a world tour to promote the release of their latest albums, these paranormal rock stars must learn to keep their secrets safe while being completely exposed on the stage.
When the stakes are this high, one misstep could mean disaster for everyone.
BEYOND THE VEIL is a fast-paced shared world that will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about the music scene.
Grab Empusa to meet the authors of BEYOND THE VEIL to get sucked into a world of secrets and rock and roll.

Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant.

Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Story
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Virtual Voice makes for unpleasant listening experience
I think that the bones of the story is great, with an interesting twist on Greek gods mythology. It could have been excellent listen but the narration from the virtual voice is so flat. It takes a lot away from the story narration and caused my mind to drift from the plot. This book should definitely be read, not listened to it with virtual voice.
