About this listen

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Cassidy Hutchinson’s desk was mere steps from the most controversial president in recent American history, and she provides a riveting account of her extraordinary experience as an idealistic young woman thrust into the middle of a national crisis, where she risked everything to tell the truth about President Trump and some of the most powerful people who surrounded him.

Ever since a childhood visit to Washington, DC, Cassidy Hutchinson aspired to serve her country in government. Raised in a working-class family with a military background, she was the first in her immediate family to graduate from college. Despite having no ties to Washington, Hutchinson landed a vital position at the center of the Trump White House.

Her life took a dramatic turn on January 6th, 2021, when, at twenty-four, she found herself in one of the most extraordinary and unprecedented calamities in modern political history.

Hutchinson was faced with a choice between loyalty to the Trump administration or loyalty to the country by revealing what she saw and heard in the attempt to overthrow a democratic election. She bravely came forward to become the pivotal witness in the House January 6 investigations, as her testimony transfixed and stunned the nation. In her memoir, Hutchinson reveals the struggle between the pressures she confronted to toe the party line and the demands of the oath she swore to defend American democracy.

Enough reaches far beyond the typical insider political account. It’s the saga of a woman whose “bravery and patriotism” (Liz Cheney, former US Representative) helped her overcome childhood challenges to get her dream job, only to face a crisis of conscience—one that more senior White House aides tried to evade—and, in the process, find her voice and herself. As the New York Times noted, “In this age of political cowardice and self-dealing, it can be easy to forget that public service is supposed to be a noble calling...Cassidy Hutchinson reminded us what that looks like.” This is a portrait of how the courage of one person can change the course of history.

Well read and interesting; but sad.

Overall, the story was relatively compelling. it's truly interesting to see how prevalent mental illness is woven but never mentioned throughout this book. I tried so hard to empathize with Cassidy, but listening to how she gleaned over some of the most horrific atrocities of that administration made it challenging, to say the least. The racism, sexism, sexual harassment, putting children in cages, covid deaths directly related to her boss, The January 6th Riot, and a host of other nightmares didn't push her to do the right thing; but the possibility of her getting federal charges for ignoring a subpoena was a bridge too far? Needless to say, I'm glad she finally came around to do the right thing- but at what cost? I'm glad she escaped the Cult; and hope she works for the rest of her life to correct the injustices she helped support & maintain .

A Brilliant and Consequential Memoir

Cassidy, has cut open her flesh and bled on the paper. Genuine, relatable, fallible and courageous. Hers is a story of naivety, redemption, self reflection and Bravery-should is to be applauded. A story of renewal, reinvention and honesty, making her narrative one which most of us can easily relate and identify with.

Thank you for your COURAGE!

Inspiring, thoughtful, and courageous account of the dark days of the attack on our Nation. The power of a change of heart from deceit to truth described by CH is a must-read or listen. Young people especially.

Compelling and well done!

Gets more exciting as she gets into the final days of Trump administration. Hard to believe how naive she is when she begins a Washington career by working for such toxic heathens as Scalise and Cruz. A true Shero when she realizes how culpable her own actions are and bravely faces the truth. Her description of 1/6 alone is worth the price. I deeply appreciated her description of many flawed relationships in her life and how things are rarely able to get tied up in neat little bundles.

Loved this background info

I saw Cassidy Hutchinson give her testimony to the January 6th Committee on TV. I remember thinking at the time, “Holy crap. This young lady is so brave!” I was stunned by her courage, knowing the backlash would be swift & mean-spirited by trumptown. Also, being part of what could be loosely(?) described as a cult, it would be painstakingly difficult to take a stand against those who you once liked, admired, worked with, trusted, and who expect “total loyalty”. Not to mention, these WH officials have National power. Amazing grace under fire.
I was hooked from the beginning and finished in less than 3 days. I thought it was well-written, honest, and conveyed perfectly by the author.
I know good things will be in store for her. Congratulations, Cassidy.

American Hero

Cassidy Hutchinson is a patriot, a true American hero who has ultimately acted in favor of her country and its constitution. Thank goodness there are people such as Ms Hutchinson who will continue to stand for what she believes in despite the bloated egos of those whom she once trusted who stand only for self aggrandizement power.

Must Read

I have rarely seen Hero’s in my life. I was completely rattled at her loyalty to this mean spirited president. I wondered why it took Jan 6 and so long for her to wake up. But, Cassidy has more than made up for her head in the sand first 20 months at the White House. She and Alex Butterfield are both my new HEROS.
I COULDNT PUT THIS READ DOWN. BRAVO

Truly inspiring

What a dignified and principled American should be like, her calling to serve the country at such a tender age and her unwilling rise to fame gives this story so much power. I wish there were more people who were loyal to their oaths to the country over party and politics. Thank you, Cassidy. You are a warrior—the best kind!!!
