About this listen

Dangerous convicts. Deadly dinosaurs. The secret encoded in her DNA lies between them....

Dedicated reptile expert Oakley Laveau loves the thrill of wrestling a ’gator. But her dream job at the swamp tour slips away when she’s charged with a crime she doesn’t remember: her best friend’s murder. Sentenced to life on a secluded isle, she’ll have to battle violent criminals and genetically modified dinosaurs to uncover the truth.

As soon as she steps on the island, she’s swept up by the charming leader of a gang of convicts and his dubious offer of protection. But it’s hard to heed his warnings when somewhere in the dino-infested rainforest hides a witness who knows the shocking facts behind Oakley’s amnesia.

Hunted by humans and beasts, can Oakley expose the truth before she meets a bloody end?

Extinction Island is the first book in the suspenseful Jurassic Judgment sci-fi series. If you like fearless heroines, action-packed adventures, and a touch of romance, then you’ll love Janice Boekhoff’s thrilling novel.

Critic reviews

"Boekhoff's intriguing, fast-paced story of confrontation and survival will keep readers thoroughly engaged right up to a conclusion that promises further adventures and adversity. Extinction Island is highly recommended reading for fans of dystopian fiction, Jurassic Park, and scientific and technological thrillers." (D. Donovan, senior reviewer, Midwest Book Review)

For Jurassic Park lovers

If you are a Jurassic Park lover you will want to read this first book of new series. It is full of bad people that are examples of the evil that lies within all of us. There are also 2 Really Scary dinosaurs & one little cute guy that loves Oakley. I think this story goes further than Jurassic Park since there are DNA altered animals (& even people?). How can that be? I don't know. Hopefully, it's revealed in the future 2 books that are in this series. There are lots of twists & turns in this story, a huge surprise & a cliff-hanger at the end. I am very curious about where this series will go. Can't wait for #2. I love audible books. Ms. Price does an excellent job with the narration. I received this audible copy free from the author. This is my voluntary review.

Drama

The writing is good and the narration is great. However it felt a little too much like a teenage girl, romantic drama. Had a great premise but the romantic element was far overblown in my opinion. That’s just me though.

Fabulous Thriller

Extinction Island is Book 1 in the Jurassic Judgement by Janice Bockhoff. I have read books 1 and 2 in the series and I thought both books were outstanding. But, Meg Price's performance in her narration brought Extinction Judgement to a whole new level of thrilling. Oakley is convicted of murdering her best friend. Instead of death, she is sent to an island with other hardened killers and dinosaurs. I thought the characters were well written and realistic. Extinction Judgement is fast paced and exciting. I am really hoping that book 2 is ready for Audible soon. I believe that Janice Bockhoff is a talented story teller and her stories keep me on the edge of my seat.

So Disappointing

If anyone actually wants to read a VERY poorly written trilogy posing as Dark Romance meets Jurassic Park but is in ACTUALITY just a JP inspired fan fiction written with sexist stereotypes of a “strong” FMC. This is for you. I wanted to like this SO much but the pushing of the patronizing Christian agenda in combination with every danger being resolved/avoided by “twisting hips” PLUS and the amount of inaccurate science and cringe dialogue made this a challenge to finish. I kept telling myself it would get better, in the end, I’m just disappointed.
