Publisher's summary

Whether you believe in their reality or not, and regardless of what you think about them, there is one thing we can all agree upon: vampires in general elicit many comments, thoughts, passions, and varied thoughts. To the kids, he is the blood sucking mythical being every kid wants to be on Halloween - the one being that all other Halloween mythical beings and creatures are afraid of. To the erotic listeners, Dracula is the seductive hulking man who has the ability to cause out-of-this-world orgasm from a single bite. He is the Romeo in many romance and love stories and in novels that have had worldwide acclame. To some, he is even bigger. He is the reincarnation or embodiment of a truly fearful but beautiful and wonderful creature.

If you ask most people what they know about the mythical being we are talking about, many will have nothing much to say but will narrate the mythical stories passed down the generational tree. However, the truth is that, at one point in our lives, we will come across a piece of information about vampires or vampire-like behavior. This could happen in the form of a film, a play, a vampire symphony, or any other informational program that incites you to ask, "What is the real truth behind vampires? Are they real?" These questions we shall look to answer. How do we intend to do this? We will look at the mysteries surrounding vampires, their mystery and place in history as others have known it, as we know it, and as others after us will know it. This means that by looking at the various ways folktales and myths have shaped our opinions of the creature we know today as the vampire, we shall understand the nature of vampirism and answer this pressing question: "Fact or Fiction...are vampires real?"

I really tried to like this

This was so terrible and lazy. So much of the book revolves around movies and fictional books and I finally stopped listening after hearing this book reference twilight for the 18th time. What a disappointment the author should read The violet throne then do some extensive research and try again. I just wasted a significant portion of my life.

much not based in anything but modern imagination

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

no , a large part of it is directly read from wikipedia, and a whole other chapter is word for word from a creative writing article on vampire history by some girl in 2010. Amusing.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

dramatic performance and some interesting

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I found much to be taken from current media or creative writing found on the internet, not based in "history" at all. In that way it was humorous.

Did Fact or Fiction? The History and Mystery of Vampires inspire you to do anything?

nope

Any additional comments?

taken with a huge grain of salt.

The author needs to learn how to research.

The amount of personal theroies put forth by the author in referencing different regions and religous beliefs is horrendous and incorrect. The narrator is week. Even though this is meant, I assume from both the writing and narrative, for children, to give what is easily incorrect and personal ideas for the historic background of vampires in other belief systems he ignores any reseach into the backgrounds of those mythologies to properly impart the information. I could not get past the first 10 minutes of this expression of self delusion of knowledge of the subject...
