About this listen

In the latest thriller from number one New York Times best-selling author Stuart Woods, Stone Barrington's newest foe has a short fuse...and it's just been lit.

Stone Barrington is enjoying a boating excursion off the Maine coast when a chance encounter leaves him somewhat the worse for wear. Always able to find the silver lining in even the unhappiest circumstances, Stone is pleased to discover that the authors of his misfortune are, in fact, members of a prestigious family who present a unique business opportunity and who require a man of Stone's skills to overcome a sticky situation of their own.

The acquaintance is fortuitous indeed, for as it turns out, Stone and his new friends have an enemy in common. He's the sort of man who prefers force to finesse and who regards any professional defeat as a personal and intolerable insult. And when Stone's sly cunning collides with his adversary's hair-trigger temper, the results are sure to be explosive.

Stone Barrington

Fans will have to listen to the continuing adventures of Stone, the luckiest man alive, except for long term relationships with women, Dino is really his longest term relationship. The episode is pretty good, lots of action, better than some of the more recent episodes. And many thanks to the publishers for keeping the same narrator for the whole series. I like the narrator, but whether you like him or not, he has become the voice of the characters in my head. I hope they never change.

Fast and Loose

Only in books can one bad man get away with too much before he came to a glorious end. Great book!

What Was The Point?

I have listened to several other Stone Barrington novels and they all had an element of intrigue; unfortunately, Fast And Loose, not so much. There was definitely no intrigue around the struggle between the “good” Barrington team and the “bad” villain team. Each time ‘team bad” made a move, it was defeated by unforeseen bad luck. For example, the villains were in the process of planting a bomb and a patrol car just happens to roll up at that exact moment. Seriously???
The narrator does a poor job of differentiating voices of characters. We heard most characters using the same tone and speech patterns.
In summary….. what was the point????

An Enjoyable Read

A light and easy to follow read. The narrator didn't seem like such a good fit although the narration was quite clear. The story was predictable to me but the pace was smooth and consistent.
