About this listen

In this thriller from a number one New York Times best-selling true-crime author, a detective's obsession with an infamous serial killer could lead to her demise.

Ted Bundy. One of America's most notorious serial killers. For two women, he is the ultimate obsession. One is a cop whose sister may have been one of Bundy's victims. The other is a deranged groupie who corresponded with Bundy in prison - and raised her son to finish what Bundy started. To charm and seduce innocent girls. To kidnap and brutalize more women than any serial killer in history. And to lure one obsessed cop into a trap as sick and demented as Bundy himself....

Contains mature themes.

Not my fave Greg Iles-don’t recommend

It started off well but meandered thereafter. So much reiterated/repeated information, descriptions, etc. The Ted Bundy theme had promise but mainly served as pre -written (as in, nothing for Iles to have to create) fodder. It also annoys me when info presented as factual is wrong, e.g., Bundy’s eyes were blue, not brown, Ellen DeGeneres is from Louisiana, not Canada. Not important but also very easy to get right.

Complicated and good

Character development complicated but good! Captivating story line kept me intrigued. I love Gregg Olsen’s work.

Twists and Turns!

Story 4/5
Narration 2/5

Reread

Lots of twists and turn, in this one, but an astute Sherlock can find the correct clues.

This narrator has a wonderful voice, but many of her female characters sounded weepy and 100 years old. Very annoying and distracting; like nails on a blackboard.

Slow moving good narrator

Not a great book but okay for the free list I think I’ve listened to all the good crime books and the not a lot I’ve found so far or narrators not the best makes story bad this narrator was good made the story better . I think the narrator makes the story better.

The scratchy voice of narrator

Okay, so let me tell you about this narrator that I've had to suffer through in a few Greg Olsen books. She's downright annoying and I swear she takes away from the whole story. It got so bad that I couldn't even finish t audiobook and ended it at chapter 13.

Started Intriguing & Fell Apart

The opening chapters pull you in as do the grizzly few murders but after that the rest was a complete snore fest filled with unnecessary background information ultimately leading to the end "twist" which turned out to be really lame.
