About this listen

I’m Caleb “C-Bomb” Baumgarten, the bad boy drummer of Red Card Riot. After tragedy strikes, I get the bright idea to hire my daughter’s remaining lifeline, her “Auntie Aubbey,” as my live-in nanny in her small town. I’m determined not to give in to my white-hot attraction to Aubrey, since I need her to certify my sobriety and testify on my behalf at an upcoming custody hearing. But you know what they say about best laid plans, right? Yeah. My bad.

Finding Home is a standalone, small town, single dad rockstar romance with deep feels, suspense, spice, no cheating, no third act breakup, and a happily ever after.

4.5 stars!

Life has been throwing curve balls at Caleb Baumgarten left and right. He's in mandatory rehab for trashing a hotel room when he found out his mother passed. Then he finds out the mother of his child, Claudia, passed and her father is vying for legal and physical custody. There's no way that man will get anywhere near two-year-old Raine if he can help it. It takes a lot of negotiation with Aubrey Capshaw, Claudia's best friend, to agree to help him out as sobriety coach and Raine's nanny. The latter is a no-brainer for Aubrey. She's been in Raine's life. Caleb, also known as C-Bomb professionally as the drummer for Red Card Riot, needs to keep up with rehab, get to know his daughter, and fight for custody. While Aubrey was a calm and steady presence, she was also part atomic when it came to dealing with Caleb. There's a lot of grieving in this story, but there's also healing and loving and moving forward. Aubrey and her parents give Caleb and Raine the support they need, allowing father and daughter to bond and heal.

Andi Arndt and Sean Masters brought the characters and story to life. The duet narration really brought out the personalities and quirks of the characters and gave the story a multi-dimensional feel. Kudos to the stellar narrators!

An awesome duet narration!

4.5 stars

This is the story of Caleb, the drummer for Red Card Riot, and Aubrey. They both love the little girl, Raine, that he fathered and want to do right by her. Caleb hasn't always done the right things in his life and there were some hoops and learning curves for him. He had to be a model citizen to prove to the courts he was fit to take care of Raine, but he was also fighting an attraction to Aubrey (his baby mama's best friend). It was so sweet watching him learn how to be a dad and interact with Raine.

I loved all the tropes the author has in this book.

Rockstar romance
Age gap
Nanny/Caretaker
Single dad
Forced proximity

The audiobook is narrated in duet by Sean Masters and Andi Arndt. Sean's deep, growly voice was perfect for Caleb. Perfect casting. Andi is wonderful, as usual. Raine's sweet baby voice was so adorable, too.

Thank you to Home Cooked Books for the advance listeners copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

LISTEN NOW!!

I almost passed up on this listening to this book as it’s not my usual trope, but I’m so glad I didn’t. Everything about this story is amazing - it kept me interested the entire time, the narrators were both great and I’m sooo sad it’s over. Definitely worth every penny. Can’t wait to listen to more from this author!

Another amazing story and fabulous read by Lauren

Finding Home is an angsty , rock star romance by Author Lauren Rowe. Her books are filled with deep emotional turmoil but always give you the HEA you desire.....Let me warn you, you will go through the wringer to get there but it is SOOOOOO worth the tears and headache.

"I’m Caleb Baumgarten, the “bad boy” drummer of Red Card Riot. The world knows me as C-Bomb, but I assure you, it’s Lil Miss Rule Follower, Aubrey Capshaw, who’s the human equivalent of an atomic bomb."

****I listened to this on audiobook. The narrators are Andi Arndt and Sean Masters. I have listened to so many of their books and they just get better and better with each performance. The talent these 2 narrators hold is immense. Their voices are perfection and their presentation was on point. Sean has that gravelly voice that was perfect for C-Bomb. I could imagine him behind a set of drums doing his thing....And Andi as Aubrey was beautiful. The emotion she shows in her voices really place you in the scene and it feels like you are actually going through what the characters do. If you are an audiobook lover, pick this one up and be prepared to be amazed!

Lauren Rowe has another win on her hand. this is the 5th book I have read of hers. Each book is filled with angsty goodness that will have you gripping your book or kindle. There is so much depth with each character and you learn something new each turn of the page. Caleb is layered so deep that I wasn't sure I would see all of him but rest assured, Lauren has our backs and gives us all that we need in his character. And Aubrey....She is just the best. So strong and her love is never-ending. If you want a story that will make you feel, pick up a Lauren Rowe book. She is the absolute best at making you laugh one minute and cry the next.

Single dad rockstar romance? YES Please!!!

This single dad rockstar romance is so compelling, poignant, and passionate! My heart was totally invested in Caleb and Aubrey's emotional journey from the very beginning. Caleb enjoyed the life of a famous bad boy rockstar and has the emotional scars to show for it. When a woman he had a one night stand with tells him she's pregnant, he pays her off to go away. When his mother gets sick, family and getting to know his daughter becomes important. But the mother wouldn't change their contract which sent him spiraling. Now he is trying to clean up his act for the band. When he finds out the mother of his daughter was in an accident, he is ready to be a better man and father. But first he must gain the trust of the woman who has helped raise his daughter, Raine. Aubrey is sweet, loving and a rule follower. When Caleb comes to meet his daughter, she only wants to protect Raine from the tattooed stranger that little Raine has never met. They reach an agreement that he will stay sober, and out of trouble, and she will help him begin a relationship with Raine. Caleb has some missteps, but he really is sweet and earnest as he wins over Raine. Aubrey never saw the appeal her best friend saw in Caleb, but as she sees a new side to him, she begins to fall for him along with Raine. But when someone dangerous wants to claim Raine for himself, will Caleb and Aubrey be able to keep her safe? I loved Caleb and Aubrey so much, and the beautiful family they were building with adorable little Raine. Caleb works so hard at his sobriety, and is a wonderful and devoted lover, friend, and father. He puts everyone first and is determined to protect those he loves. Aubrey is so strong, sweet, selfless, and caring. They are perfect together, making each other stronger, having fun together, and their chemistry is off the charts.
Narrators Andi Arndt and Sean Masters are superb storytellers! They embodied these characters perfectly, bringing them to life so clearly. Their ability to convey such emotion from the dramatic to the funny, from panic to passion, and all the sweet moments in between was superb. They helped to make this breathtaking love story even more captivating!

Great audio!!

Thank you so much to Lauren and Home Cooked Books for an advance audio of Finding Home! This was my first book by Lauren, but it certainly won't be my last. I love a good rockstar romance, and paired with the single dad/nanny trope...I was instantly hooked!

Caleb Baumgarten, aka C-bomb, is the drummer for the popular band Red Card Riot. After tragedy strikes, Caleb finds himself fighting for custody to raise the child he's never met. He's been dealing with his own loss and battling drugs, and suddenly he's faced with his greatest challenge yet: being a dad to sweet little Raine. Caleb enlists the help of Aubrey Capshaw who had already been helping raise Raine to be the child's nanny.

Aubrey has a bunch of preconceived notions about Caleb, but the longer they spend time together, the more she learns the true nature behind the tatted up drummer. Caleb was absolutely adorable when interacting with Raine, and I loved his personal growth throughout the book. I also enjoyed the development of his connection with Aubrey. It was an emotional story with wonderful secondary characters. Aubrey's parents were a delight, and I'm definitely planning on going back and reading more from Lauren to see how all of Caleb's friends came together.

🎧: I listened to the audio, which was a duet narration with Andi Arndt and Sean Masters. They did a phenomenal job digging up all of the raw emotions involved with this story. Sean's deep voice was absolute perfection for the grumpy, tortured drummer. I could seriously listen to him read a phonebook for hours. Andi is a favorite narrator of mine and has once again provided a wonderful performance capturing the determined and sassy Aubrey. She also really knows how to pull at the heart strings. It was such a great audio!

C-Bomb Finds Home

We’ve all waited so long for Caleb’s story. He has shown up in several books but just little glimpses. It was worth the wait! I KNEW he had potential but he turned out to be glorious!
Being a Led Zeppelin fan myself made me love him more as he introduced Aubrey to his favorite tunes. He and Aubrey together - yum! Add Raine the adorable child - it was just awesome! 10 stars!

Fun read

This a fun and steamy romance. While it does deal with some heavy topics - grief and addiction - the humor of the MMC and connection between the hero and his daughter overshadows that for the most part. The suspense plot line was good but is really solved relatively quickly. Everything goes pretty smoothly for them throughout.

All of my love for the narrators and characters…

Story: 3.5 ⭐️s
Narration: 5 ⭐️s

I love a rockstar romance, especially when redemption is the driving factor. Having read other Lauren Rowe books in this story’s sphere, I was intrigued to see how she would redeem Caleb “C-bomb” Baumgarten in Finding Home.

A parent trying to do better for their kid, a custody battle, grieving a parent, nascent and found families, these are all elements I find compelling. There are some great scenes where Rowe’s characterization of Caleb is poignant and heartbreaking. The scene where he has his home interview with the social worker was pitch perfect, as are his interactions with his daughter, Raine. And while I could have done without the age gap between the MCs, the FMC Aubrey is also a very well-drawn, engaging character. Her grounded determination and genuine care when it comes to doing right by Raine (and Claudia) is so lovely. She is definitely someone you would want in your corner. Plus I love her unabashed love of pop, but also very much enjoy how Caleb was able to make a Led Zeppelin fan out of her and Raine.

Separately, these are two solid MCs. However, when it comes to their romance, the story didn’t work as well for me. It felt much more sexual chemistry forward than emotional connection forward and it never really balanced out enough for me. The emotional aspect felt a bit insta-love, which seemed incongruous with some of the better-developed story elements around them - their united front in the custody battle, their different perceptions of Claudia, etc. I couldn’t help but long for more scenes that would make me more clearly understand their couple connection beyond the bedroom and beyond their mutual love for Raine.

Overall, I am glad to have listened to the audiobook of FH. It is a perfectly cast production, and a shining example of how a great audiobook can shore up the less effective parts of a story. It’s also further proof of why Andi Arndt is a queen among narrators. She embodied Aubrey, skillfully bringing out the lovely layers of Rowe’s FMC. Every encounter I have with Arndt, makes me excited for the next. Sean Masters was a fantastic Caleb; he had the gruff protectiveness, the broody sexiness, but also the vulnerable guy who just wants to be better, even when it’s hard. Masters is a narrator I have been encountering more and more, and his skills continue to grow on me. I also loved that this was a duet audio; the performers gel so well, it added significantly to my FH experience. This one definitely belongs up with the best of the Lauren Rowe audios, and I do recommend listening.

I’m grateful to have received an ALC copy of the audiobook via Home Cooked Books. All opinions expressed are my own.
