På Egeborg Kostskole har den dygtige, stilfærdige Inger ofte nok optrådt som fredsmægler og har på sin fornuftige måde klaret mange små stridigheder og uoverensstemmelser mellem de andre piger. Det er derfor skæbnens ironi, at hun nu selv kommer ud for modgang og vanskeligheder, som er på nippet til at slå hende helt ud. Men nu griber Puk ind og tager sagen i sin lille, faste hånd og viser sig som den sande ven, hun er.
"Fint klaret, Puk" er nummer 18 i serien om Puk.
Puk-bøgerne følger den lidt forkælede københavnerpige Bente Winter, der bliver sendt på Egeborg Kostskole, fordi hendes far skal flytte til udlandet med sit arbejde. Navnet Lisbeth Werner dækker over de danske forfattere Knud Meister (1913-1989) og Carlo Andersen (1905-1970). De to forfattere står bag Jan-bøgerne, som hovedsageligt er skrevet til drenge, og har sidenhen gået sammen om at skrive Puk-bøgerne, der hurtigt blev den mest populære serie af pigebøger i Danmark.
