One afternoon - after another failed attempt to get motivated to exercise - I (accidentally) started my first mini habit. I initially committed to do one push-up, and it turned into a full workout. I was shocked. This "stupid idea" wasn't supposed to work. I was shocked again when my success with this strategy continued for months (and to this day). I had to consider that maybe I wasn't the problem in those 10 years of mediocre results. Maybe it was my prior strategies that were ineffective, despite being oft-repeated as "the way to change" in countless books.

Great book
This is a great book to listen to if anyone is thinking that it’s time to start a new chapter in fitness but not sure where to begin. The book provided the necessary motivation to start an exercise program. It also laid out the planning process that most of us skip when starting this endeavor. I enjoyed the stories that put into perspective some of the stumbling blocks we can run into and how to overcome.
The reader was good and easy to listen to. I enjoyed hearing the author’s real voice at the end and his sincere request for a review.
Dividing the book into two parts was also good for me. Thanks Jim!

Good tips to get started
I like the way the author gets right to the point. Probably the best feature of this book is its not pitching a single diet or exercise routine. He focuses on helping you motivate yourself to do what is needed.

Great focus on the mental game of exercise!
Excellent content to help with the hardest part of exercise. The mental game. Walks you through all the important steps to building a mental foundation to help you stay on task and get results. Keeps it interesting with a variety of stories mixed in as well. Great listen. Highly recommend.

Get Motivated!
As a personal trainer, I really enjoyed reading this book and was hoping for some motivation that I could bring to my clients. James Atkinson really knows his stuff and he just seems like he really wants people to succeed. I'm excited to use his methods in my own personal life to motivate myself and others around me.

Very Good
The book was right on target and very helpful. He breaks fitness down into three parts, mental training, diet and exercise in that order. I emailed the author and he personally replied and emailed me 6 recipes that he actually uses. This audiobook deserves a high review.

Good book!
I enjoyed the book but having motivation books that are not read by the Author lose something for me. I liked the content but I couldn’t find the chart on his website that he refers to in the later chapters. Would be a great workbook or Kindle book.

Simple, to the point. This book is designed to help you be the one in every ten that sticks with their fitness plan and incorporates it as part of a healthy lifestyle. Being aware of the pitfalls being one part, overcoming the inertia of bad habits is the other. The author helps with both.
