About this listen

The New York Times best-selling author of The Sound of Glass and coauthor of The Forgotten Room tells the story of a woman coming home to the family she left behind - and to the woman she always wanted to be.

Georgia Chambers has spent her life sifting through other people's pasts while trying to forget her own. But then her work as an expert on fine china - especially Limoges - requires her to return to the one place she swore she'd never revisit.

It's been 13 years since Georgia left her family home on the coast of Florida, and nothing much has changed except that there are fewer oysters and more tourists. She finds solace in seeing her grandfather still toiling away in the apiary where she spent much of her childhood, but encountering her estranged mother and sister leaves her rattled. Seeing them after all this time makes Georgia realize that something has been missing - and unless she finds a way to heal these rifts, she will forever be living vicariously through other people's remnants. To embrace her own life - mistakes and all - she will have to find the courage to confront the ghosts of her past and the secrets she was forced to keep.

Wonderful!

Absolutely, without a doubt the best narration I've heard using audible. Loved the story, the development of the characters and the very accurate representation of the intricate relationship of sisters. Highly recommend and can't wait to read more of Karen White's books.

I enjoyed how the characters were developed and the clues along the way for the twists in the plot. Just a good story - I wanted to keep listening to find out how things worked out.

Not one part in particular - just how the threads/families came together.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

If i have to pick, Georgia

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No - too long but I did listen as much as I could.

Any additional comments?

Well worth the credit!

All families

Karen White has done it again. I loved the Tradd St series and this one did not fail me. The family secrets of Maisy and Georgia are woven through time, all the way back to WW2. This story very well demonstrated how easy it is for us to love and hate our loved ones at the same time and how dysfunctional we all really are. I think if you enjoy stories with family mystery and history, you'll thoroughly enjoy this one.

Loved reading about the bees!

Very good family story about a damaged family that finds a way to heal and rebuild. I love the sections on the bees.
