Publisher's summary

Ronnie Chandler's past - especially the identity of her ex-husband - is a secret, held close and shared with only a trusted few. Planning never to see him again, she’d moved halfway across the country and found a job in a profession where he'd never in a million years look for her.

Ready for a bigger challenge than selling small cabins, Ronnie and her colleagues at Horse Country Real Estate attract The Westlake Group, venture capitalists from Virginia, to underwrite the creation of Riverwood, a planned equestrian community.

Senator Evan Parker is in Tennessee on a fact-finding trip. When his path unexpectedly crosses Ronnie's, he demands a second chance, but Ronnie is fast falling in love with Luc Deschaines, one of her new investment partners.

Evan has Ronnie and all of the realtors over a proverbial barrel. Infuriated at the position forced on her, will Ronnie capitulate to Evan’s demands?

good book, interesting characters and content

This was my first audio book. I really liked the story. There are lots of characters to keep up with. The relationships and storyline(s) are believable and interesting. I winced when the narrator pronounced colic "coal-ic" a couple times, but other than that, I thought she did a great job. I'm anxious to listen to the next book in the series.

I love the book. I like being able to relate to the different places in the book since it is centered around the Big South Fork. I am looking forward to the next in the series.

Excellent audio version of an outstanding book.

I had recently read the book version of Fool Me Once, which got me hooked on the entire Riverwood series. The story line is interesting to me as I am an avid trail rider and property owner in the Big South Fork (BSF) area. I was excited when the author offered me a code to review the audio version of the first book in the series. Since I had already read the book, the story was very familiar to me, but I was happy to hear the pleasant and engaging narrator. I listen to many audio books, and often I have to bow out of finishing them due to irritating narrators, even if the story is good. That is not the case with this performance. Chloe Parks does a splendid rendition. Her voice and reading actually adds to the quality of the words written by Linnhe McCarron, as it makes it so easy to pick up the personality of each character. I fully recommend this audio book to anyone that enjoys the BSF area, trail rides, enjoys horses, or just likes a good story about the great outdoors. Mix in a touch of romance, fashion and humor, the story explodes. As I have stated in previous reviews for this author, she has hit the bulls eye. Her knowledge of horses, the Cumberland Plateau and BSF could not be more on target and the entire series are a sure bet for enjoyable reading or listening.

love, love, loved it!

loved the book, cannot wait for the rest of the series. I couldn't put it down. Now I am sad as I have to wait for the next book. I live close enough to ride this area which made it that much more interesting. But even if you don't ride it is a very good book.

Great first book, Great setting, Good read

First of all I do not normally read novels in this genre.I am a guy who likes techno adventures with lots of action, but, having had a recommendation for this book from a good friend who word I trust, I thought I’d give it a go mainly because it was set in a locale that I knew.
Surprise! It was true to the setting, well written ( and well read) and before I knew it I was involved with the book’s inhabitants. It flowed nicely, characters were developed smoothly and the setting and story line were enjoyable ( and believable!)
A great first book, I can’t wait for the next one!

Well done indeed...

Great story, amazing narration, what more could you want? This is a well told tale with realistic characters facing realistic challenges. Characters with flaws that they have to correct before they can win the day. Family dynamics, romance and intrigue...the perfect mix for a great book. I loved the narrator, her voice is clear and she pronounces every word with perfect inflection. Good job and congratulations to both author and narrator.
