Unexpected ending in a detective story
Would you consider the audio edition of For My Brother to be better than the print version?
I did not read the paper version but this narrator was very good and gave the book.more depth.
What did you like best about this story?
The ending was the only surprise in the book.
Have you listened to any of Joshua Bennington’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
We have listened to one other of his performances and we have loved both of them.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did not feel that the detective was much of a detective.
Any additional comments?
Good book fast and short, It was read by a very good narrator which helped the book a LOT.

Brotherly Love
Where does For My Brother rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
"For My brother" ranks high among the audio books I have listened to.Not the highist but very close,
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the characters that the author created and that the narrator gave a personality. Jason Strong was interesting but Donnie's few words said a lot.
Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene was at the end where they were all around the table and the gun didn't fire.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was a very sad book. Full of sorrow and pain for a boy who never grew up and was locked into a times when his older brother was a live.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this book for two reasons, one it is a touching story and two it was narrated to give it more real feeling by a good reader.

Good detective story
Where does For My Brother rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I audio book is good but not as good as "Extreme Measures" another audio book done by Joshua Bennington, another detective story..
What was one of the most memorable moments of For My Brother?
The inability of Jason Strong to be a detective. He is slow and the police station sounded like an 1980's station.
Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene was the confrontation between Jason and the Lt.
Any additional comments?
The story had an expected story line. I thought Jason Strong was more of a detective than this book leads me to believe. The narration was pretty good. Over all it is a book I would recommend but not a 5 starer..

A detective story with no foul language
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Yes the author could have made the story less transparent.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
SAD
Which scene was your favorite?
I felt that the whole book circled around one moment in the first chapter ....."His mother's face was drawn, almost gray. Pain weiled up in her eyes, and Donnie realized he had seen that look before"
Any additional comments?
The book was well written and performed by a good narrator. The story starts out well as suspense story but fails as a detective story. I would still recommend it but could not give it a 5 star. The Narrators performance however gets a 5 star rating..

Detective story with an unexpected ending.
Would you consider the audio edition of For My Brother to be better than the print version?
Yes, the audio book was easier to understand with most of the bad grammar eliminated and the story smoothed out. Also, the narrator gave the character more of a personality by us hearing them speek.
What was one of the most memorable moments of For My Brother?
Doonie"s dinning room table at the end
Have you listened to any of Joshua Bennington’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
We have listened to about 5 books of his in this past year and found this one to be not his best but close..
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Younger brother dies with his older brother
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this audio book, it was entertaining and suspenseful.

Good story, didn't care for the reader...
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend the book itself, but not the audible version. The reader's breathy unnatural tone and the way he spat out many of the words was annoying. His characterization of Det. Strong made him sound like a grumpy curmudgeon. I got the feeling the reader was trying to emulate the late great Frank Muller, but didn't pull it off.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Parts of the plot were similar to previous book, but it was good and suspenseful.
How could the performance have been better?
A different reader would have made the book much more enjoyable to listen to; his tone and inflections were distracting from the book itself.
Do you think For My Brother needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Perhaps with a different reader.
Any additional comments?
I really love the way the author writes - no obscenities or graphic descriptions of sex or violence, demonstrating that, indeed, those things are not necessary to good storytelling!
