Publisher's summary

Greer Parker had her life planned out. She’d follow in her father and brothers’ FBI footsteps, and then she’d become the first female director. Now on loan to the president’s off-the-books black ops group, Greer is at a crossroads in her life: Go back to the FBI or forge a new path? The decision is about to become more complicated when the man Greer can’t decide if she loves or hates needs to be rescued - and she’s the only one who can save him.

Sebastian Abel’s best friend, the president, asked for a favor. Little did Sebastian know that developing code for a new spy satellite would find him kidnapped. When all hope is lost, he thinks about Greer Parker, the sweet girl next door with a sniper rifle. He had no business thinking of Greer in the many ways he was thinking of her. The trouble was Greer infuriated him by rolling her eyes at him and refusing to keep herself out of danger. Sebastian finds himself constantly worried about a woman he didn’t want...or was it that he shouldn’t want?

Explosions, daring rescues, a town racing to help, and all the apple-pie bribes lead to two strong personalities ending the charade that it hasn’t been love all along. Is the small town of Keeneston ready for what happens when someone puts the woman Sebastian Abel loves in the crosshairs? Or the better question: Are they prepared for what Greer Parker will do to protect the man she loves?

Teenage Angst

Far too many pages were taken up with Greer and Sebastian's teenage like angst. Sebastian was so traumatized by his parents's deaths that he has decided that he "can never love again". Oh the drama. Greer has never had a boyfriend that her brothers and family could not run off so she has decided that she is not worth fighting for or that there is not a man out there capable of it. Again - stop with the teenage melodrama. it overtook what would have been a decent plot surrounding satellites and how they can be used to help and to hurt. it also drowned out the powerful thread of how Sebastian's mother positively influenced his life and of the string friendship between Sebastian and his best friend the president of the US. I did like the reprisals of many previous characters. it is nice when their stories continue in other books. I was so happy to see Sebastian finally get his own book but I struggled to get through for all the wining from him and Greer. I love how this author creates bad ass characters but hate how she gives them such ridiculous Achilles heels.

Loved it!

Greer and Sebastian…loved the story on audible as much as I did when I read it.

Greer has been stifled by her dad, uncles and brothers all of her life. It was going to take a special man to be able to handle all that her family and town dish out, and that man is definitely Sebastian.

We’ve loved and hated Sebastian for years..he is now at a time in his life where he’s open to finding someone to love, someone to share his life with…he just doesn’t know it. Watching these two come together was both exciting and hysterical..two people fighting the inevitable while dodging bullets, stabbing, kidnapping attempts, rescue missions, and constant death threats from friends and family.

All in all, it’s just another Keeneston love story.

Finally Sebastian & Greer's story. They have been circling for quite a while now. This story makes up for the long wait. I enjoyed the full 'coming out' of Birch's special group (see Web of Lies series) and a little about what they are doing now. I also enjoyed the whole satellite, spying & our utter dependence on using 'outer space' in our daily lives. An interesting perspective. Using North Korea & China as the aggressors is fitting, I feel like they are both hoping to move under the radar with Russia being in the highlight right now.

Forever Lies

Loved this installment of the Forever Bluegrass series. The narrator, Eric G. Dove, brings the story to life, and the author, Kathleen Brooks, is a creator of a cast of characters the you really wished existed in a place you would want to visit.

Please understand that while this book can be seen as a standalone book, the enjoyment level rises if you take the time to enjoy all of Ms. Brooks other books. The best place to start is with her first book titled, "Bluegrass State of Mind". Then you will see the growth of community and characters from there. Just so you know, she has other books that happen to crossover and some characters become connected to this series and those series are her Women of Power, Web of Lies and Shadows Landing. Sure, this might sound a little overwhelming, but as with this author and her talent to tell a tale, you will not feel overwhelmed at all. In fact, you will look forward to more and more. You see, these books will take you on a trip to a place you with existed, with characters you would want as real friends, and a happily ever after with such swoon worthy heroes.

Not to offer spoilers, but it takes some real talent to make a previously cold and unlikable character like Sebastian and change your feelings about him. You will shed a tear, you will laugh out loud, and you will be cheering for the story of Sebastian and Greer.

Definitely a 5 star rating.... if I could give more... I would. It is that good!
