Maddie Day
About this listen
The eleventh installment in Maddie Day's deliciously popular Country Store cozy mysteries . . . It's Saint Patrick's Day in South Lick, Indiana, but a holiday cooking competition at Robbie Jordan's country store and restaurant Pans 'N Pancakes is put on the back-burner when a killer strikes.
There's no mistaking Saint Patrick's Day at Pans 'N Pancakes. Robbie may only be Irish by marriage to Abe O'Neill, but the shelves of vintage cookware in her southern Indiana store are draped with glittery shamrocks and Kelly-green garlands and her restaurant is serving shepherd's pie and Guinness Beer brownies. The big event, however, is a televised cooking competition to be filmed on site.
Unfortunately, someone's luck has run out. Before the cameras start rolling, tough-as-nails producer Tara O'Hara Moore is found upstairs in her B&B room, bludgeoned apparently by the heavy hilt of a cleaver left by her side. Now, not only does Robbie have a store full of festive decorations, she's got a store full of suspects . . .

Boozie
I have listened to the series in order and in general I find it very enjoyable. I really HATE the fact that the character talked about wanting to get pregnant so intensely but was boozing it up in every other paragraph. If one really were really serious about getting pregnant then one would be doing their best to get into the most pregnant friendly physical shape possible. In one paragraph she is talking about missing her cycle and then she is adding booze to her hot chocolate. Also she often describes Dana’s hair. The appropriate term is LOCS not dreads, not dreadlocks. If I as a 51 year old know that the author should know that about a character she invented.

The sound!
I love these stories but in this recording in chapter 3, there's a high-pitched tone and I can't continue so I would say poor recording quality and I won't buy another one. I bought two when I bought this one and I won't buy anymore from this company. My ears can't take it.

Good story but
I love these books and the characters. The author has always included politically biased and anti-religious narrative, but they haven't been too aggressive. However, the demeaning description of religious families was too much in this book. It is sad that we can't even read fiction without divisiveness.
