About this listen

Poor Princess Anya. Forced to live with her evil stepmother's new husband, her evil stepstepfather. Plagued with an unfortunate ability to break curses with a magic-assisted kiss. And forced to go on the run when her stepstepfather decides to make the kingdom entirely his own.

Aided by a loyal talking dog, a boy thief trapped in the body of a newt, and some extraordinarily mischievous wizards, Anya sets off on a quest that, if she plays it right, will ultimately free her land - and teach her a thing or two about the use of power, the effectiveness of a well-placed pucker, and the finding of friends in places both high and low.

With Frogkisser!, acclaimed best-selling author Garth Nix has conjured a fantastical tale for all ages, full of laughs and danger, surprises and delights, and an immense population of frogs. It's 50 percent fairy tale, 50 percent fantasy, and 100 percent pure enjoyment from start to finish.

Critic reviews

"Narrator Marisa Calin has a marvelous way of interpreting this story's characters - human, animal, and fantastical." ( AudioFile)
"The audiobook is narrated by the actress and novelist Marisa Calin, who does a fantastic job. She has a British accent, which somehow makes all fairy tales 26 percent better. Her upbeat tone is well-suited to the book's jaunty style and amusing quests - such as the search for a magic lip balm needed for proper amphibian kissing." ( The New York Times Book Review)

excellent! Garth nix never disappoints

Marisa Calin did a great job performing this book, her voices for each character were great and at times hilarious. The story was funny and cute but also deep an engaging. Garth Nix's books always have these fantastic worlds and magic back stories that leave me wanting more.

Very Amusing

Garth Nix lived up to reputation! This is an about 2 princesses who have a stepmother who remarried, which makes their father actually a step-stepfather. Of course he is an evil wizard who wants the throne. The ensuing struggle is a very humorous story,

Nix is such a masterful storyteller!

This is the perfect fairytale for modern children -- full of humor, clever thinking and a wonderful collection of quest comrades.

Moral lessons

I enjoyed the fantasy and the adventures of the Frog-kisser. Garth Nix is a good story writer.

Princess Who?

This was my first story by Garth Nix; but I'm sure it won't be the last. Although there are allusions to many well known fairy tales, this story holds its own through its interesting plot and well developed characters. I really enjoyed the inclusion of the "Royal Dogs" as guides and a conscience. It is a stand alone novel although there is a reference in the Epilogue about another story where a princess becomes a "Good" wizard. Perhaps that will be my next Nix novel?

Marisa Calin's narration was excellent. There were numerous characters and they were each recognizable. Someone said that princesses must have a British accent to sound Royal. I must say I do prefer them that way. Igbo

Garth Nix does it again

This might be one of my favorite Garth Nix books so far, and I say that having been a fan of the Abhorsen series since I was a kid. Such a charming story featuring signature Nix themes: a young heroine coming of age, thrust into greatness, accompanied by her dog companion, wit, humor and yet another unique twist on magic.

It was a little slow to start, as is the case with most Garth Nix books, as it seems that he likes to spend some time intimately introducing the character, their thoughts, and passion. However, it was overall paced much better than most of his books, which tend to have very rushed endings.

Loved it and would recommend to anyone who is a fan of Nix, magic, and dogs.

Lots of fun!

This is a cute, silly, romping fairytale! It has a nice balance of fun and serious moments. The mood is very different from the Old Kingdom books, but still well written! Who knew Nix was so good at silliness! the narrator was great too!

Great Book!

I'm a fan of fairy tales and Garth Nix so I knew I was going to like this one. Princess Anya goes on a quest to a) find ingredients to make magic lip gloss to change Prince Denholm from a frog back to his princely self and b) find allies to defeat her evil stepstepfather.
This book has everything- talking dogs, druids, wizards, the seven dwarfs. It's brilliant!
The narration is wonderful. Marisa Calin does a nice job. She sort of reminds me of Katherine Kellgren but not as dramatic.
If you like fairy tales, this one is for you!

He doin it again

Ive been reading (listening) to this book on repeat. Its a great story, The narrator does really well, And overall a good book. I dislike the description, Because it makes it seem like Anya is a kind of Damsel in distress. Its all like ‘boo hoo, little baby Anya Needs to go on a quest!’ and is a bit overdramatic. Really good book,10/10

(Im using the czech (check) keyboard so Its not really good sorry)
