Publisher's summary

Missouri, 1840

Coming to America was supposed to be a new adventure, a chance for a fresh start in a new country, for Hayley Hunter and her husband. She never dreamed her journey would land her alone in a strange place with nobody she knew. She joins up with a wagon train in the hopes of meeting up with her brother and his family along the trail.

Malcom Wheeler knows the hardships and heartbreak families face, but there’s usually safety in numbers, so he runs his own wagon train to try and help people determined to head out west. Taking the lady along goes against his better judgement; understanding her plight and being happy about it are two different things.

Can Malcom help Hayley find comfort by restoring a part of her past when he finds her family’s trunk that holds a journal? Is there hope for both of them to find a family of their own?

A great HEA story!

I loved listening to Malcolm and Haylee's second chance romance story and love the narrator's voice that made it easy to understand the emotions being shown throughout the story!

Wagon Train Romance Plus Action and Mystery

I love wagon train romances! This one did not disappoint. There was a sense of the progression of relationships after many weeks on the trail as well as the fear that must have accompanied life on the trail. I felt like I got a much better sense of the hero's character than the heroine's though. She was there to flesh out the hero and his struggle with past hurts. There were points at which I was confused by the timing of past events but those were insignificant compared to how well the action of the novel was developed.
The narrator had an easy-to-listen-to voice and did an great job of interpreting characters' inflections. My only complaint was the narrator's accents which weren't always used throughout consistently. Sometimes the heroine sounded southern and sometimes she was British.
Overall, it is such a delightful audio book that I recommend it to anyone who enjoys sweet western romance or simply sweet historical romance. Readers of Kirsten Osbourne or Amelia Adams would enjoy it immensely, I think. (I did receive the audio book from the author with the understanding that I would give a fair and voluntary review, which I have done.)

A special Story

Great Story!! this is book 2 in Thanksgiving Books & Blessings Collection. Makes a great stand alone book to listen to or read. Well written and the narrator was great. a book I would be proud to read with or in front of my grandchildren.
Haley is a recent widow trying to find her brother and family. Malcom is a recent widower who is leading the wagon train. She gets him to hire her on as a cook for his wagon train, at least till she finds her brother. He believes that his family was killed by Indians, and he wants to find those guilty. Can Malcom and Haley help each other?

A Short Story!

This was a great short story and is book 2 of The Thanksgiving and Blessings Collection. The author writes well and the narrator was great. Malcolm on the Organ Trail traveling west, allowed Haley to travel with them against his better judgement. Difficult times ahead and the loss of both Malcolm and Haley pulls them together.
Read about the faith they both have that gives them the will and strength to keep surviving in their world of sorrow. Can they help each other with their grief? If you like Historical Fiction you will enjoy this one.
I received an audiobook from the author but was not required to write a review. All opinions are my own.

Such a pleasure

I adored reading this book, but I really adored hearing it read. The narrators of Audible are professionsal. I have never heard hesitations, swallowing or anything other than the text of the book being read.
Gateway to the West really came alive for me listening to Allyson read Susette's wonderful book. You could tell who was speaking by her voice. Her inflections were in just the right places to carry you into the story of a time long passed. I heartily reccommend reading and listening to this wonderful and well-written book.

Love Wagon Trains

Good story. I like that I could read the book in one setting. Easy to follow the story line.
