About this listen

A New York Times Best Seller

“My life was a complete mess, and God bless all of it. Because it’s in the messes where we learn the most - as long as we slow down enough to realize what God is trying to show us.”

Suddenly in the spotlight, 24-year-old Hannah Brown realized that she wasn’t sure what she wanted. After years of competing in beauty pageants, and then starring on The Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars, she had become incredibly visible. There she was, in her early 20s, with millions around the world examining and weighing in on her every decision. She found herself wondering what it would mean to live on her terms. What it would mean to stop seeking approval from others and decide - for the first time - what it was she wanted from her own life.

An honest and earnest examination of her own mid-20s, God Bless This Mess is a memoir that doesn’t claim to have all the answers. Hannah knows she doesn’t have all the answers. What she does have is the insight of someone who has spent critical years of her youth under public scrutiny. Thus what emerges is a quarter-life memoir that speaks to the set of difficulties young women face, and how to move through them with grace. By pushing against her engrained need to seek approval, and learning how to think critically about her own goals and desires, Hannah inspires others to do the same - and to embrace the messiness that comes hand-in-hand with self-discovery (even it that sometimes means falling flat on your face).

Using her time on The Bachelorette as a launching pad, Hannah doesn’t shy away from the most painful experiences of her life: moments when her faith was tested, when she feared it was lost, and the moments when she reclaimed it on national television. “And Jesus still loves me.” Fans will be inspired by the never-before-told stories: the ones about facing depression and anxiety during her pageant years, the ways in which therapy and journaling have proven to be a saving grace, and the previously private moments - both at home and on television - that have shaped the star’s outlook.

Honest and emotionally urgent, God Bless This Mess is a reminder that true growth doesn’t come without strife - and it’s through those dark, messy moments that self-acceptance and love can bloom.

Enjoyable and Relatable

This is not a tell all about her time in bachelor nation and thank goodness for that. I especially enjoyed hearing her tear down walls on mental health - and not just her own struggles, but in general as well. Her feelings on the different shamings she experienced was sad to hear but eye opening and relatable. This is easy listen and follow along to as well as an enjoyable experience. She can at times get a bit dry but other times you can hear her passion and emotion while narrating, so all in all she's a good narrator. Worth a listen.

God Bless Hannah Brown

Hannah’s candid and honest sharing of her life experiences is a beautiful coming of age story. Hannah is so relatable for all of us, even those of us who have a decade on her. I was able to listen to this in two days, as a stay at home mom. Thoroughly enjoyed every moment and appreciate how vulnerable she was.

READ IN A DAY

Hannah’s book is so good! She has gone through so many things in life that you wouldn’t know from having watched her on TV. A lot are similar struggles everyone deals with and never talks about but some are a lot more than that. I love and admire her honesty in this book. Definitely worth the listen!

Love it!

I’ve always adored Hannah Brown! Mostly just because what I’ve seen on TV and social media, it was good to hear about her life and how she got where she is, and it’s not perfect, but it LOOKED perfect when inside she was a mess! It’s real and honest and it made me like her so much more! I also loved that it was read by her!

Easy read with some juicy details

If you’re a fan of the bachelor franchise you will definitely enjoy this book. It feels like a conversation with Hannah. She spills a lot of secrets about the franchise in how some things were edited and secrets about her relationships with the guys from the show.

The book is centered around her faith and it’s a pretty major theme, but even if you aren’t religious you could bypass some of the pieces of it.

Wonderful read

As a huge fan of Hannah’s bachelorette story, I always wanted to know the details that were left out. She talked about it all. I loved getting hearing from her perspective of what went down. I loved how brave and vulnerable Hannah was in telling her story of heartache, her ups and downs with God, and her personal struggles. I loved every page. I definitely recommend this book!

Pretty Good!

As the other reviews I have read said, this is a very honest book which I appreciate. I had no idea how serious Hannah was about her faith so that was actually a refreshing theme throughout the book. She was open about a lot of things, I would highly recommend!
